3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The Raddy AG7 requires batteries for operation. Please install 1 x 9V battery (not included) into the outdoor sensor unit and AAA batteries (not included) into the display console for power saving, or use the provided adapter for continuous display.

3.2 Outdoor Sensor Components

Familiarize yourself with the outdoor sensor components:

  1. Anemometer Cups: Measures wind speed.
  2. Rain Funnel: Collects rainfall for measurement.
  3. Thermo-Hygrometer Radiation Shield: Protects temperature and humidity sensors from direct sunlight and rain.
  4. Solar Panel: Provides supplementary power to the sensor.
  5. Wind Vane: Measures wind direction.

3.3 Sensor Installation and Mounting

The outdoor sensor should be installed in an open area, away from obstructions, to ensure accurate readings. It has a transmission range of up to 100m (330ft). The unit offers various mounting options:

  • Mount on top of a flat surface.
  • Mount on top of a pole (recommended minimum diameter 2.4 cm / 0.9 inches).
  • Mount on the side of a vertical surface.
  • Mount on the side of a pole.

Ensure the sensor is level for accurate rain and wind measurements. The installation is quick with clear instructions and diagrams provided.

4.1 Display Console Overview

The 7.4-inch display console provides a large, easy-to-read screen with various weather parameters:

4.2 Atomic Clock Functionality

The Raddy AG7 features an Atomic Clock with DCF (Germany) synchronization, ensuring precise timekeeping. The clock automatically adjusts for daylight saving time.

4.3 Backlight Adjustment

The display console offers 4 adjustable backlight levels (LV0, LV1, LV2, LV3) to suit different lighting conditions and preferences. Refer to the manual for specific button controls to adjust the backlight.

4.4 Expandable Monitoring

The Raddy AG7 supports connection with up to three additional R5 remote sensors (sold separately) to monitor conditions in up to five different areas of your home or property. This allows for comprehensive environmental control.

4.5 Alerts and Alarms

You can set high/low threshold alerts for various weather parameters. The device also features dual alarms for weekdays and weekends, allowing for customized scheduling.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and accuracy of your Raddy AG7 Weather Station, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the display console and outdoor sensor with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Outdoor Sensor Placement: Periodically check the outdoor sensor for any debris (leaves, dirt) that might obstruct the rain funnel, anemometer, or wind vane. Clear any blockages to maintain accurate readings.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both the display console and outdoor sensor when the low battery indicator appears on the screen.
  • Solar Panel: Ensure the solar panel on the outdoor sensor is clean and free from obstructions to maximize its efficiency.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Raddy AG7 Weather Station, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Display/Blank Screen:
    • Check if batteries are correctly installed and not depleted.
    • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected if using continuous power.
  • No Outdoor Sensor Data:
    • Ensure the outdoor sensor is within the 100m (330ft) transmission range of the display console.
    • Check the outdoor sensor's battery.
    • Press the 'Manual Transmit Signal' button on the outdoor sensor (refer to Section 3.3 image for location) to force a data transmission.
    • Avoid major metal obstructions between the sensor and console.
  • Inaccurate Readings (Rain, Wind):
    • Verify the outdoor sensor is installed level and free from obstructions.
    • Clean the rain funnel and ensure the anemometer cups and wind vane spin freely.
  • Atomic Clock Not Synchronizing:
    • Ensure the display console is placed away from electronic devices that might cause interference.
    • Allow sufficient time for the initial synchronization (can take several hours).
