Operating Instructions
Basic Controls
- Keys: The 61 velocity-sensitive keys respond to how hard you press them, allowing for dynamic musical expression. Aftertouch provides additional control by sensing continuous pressure after the key is pressed.
- Pads: The 12 pads are pressure-sensitive and can be used for drumming, triggering samples, or launching clips. Use the bank buttons to switch between the 4 available pad banks.
- Encoders and Faders: These controls are assignable and typically control parameters within your software instruments or DAW. Their functions are often displayed on the KeyLab's screen or within your software.
- Pitch Bend and Modulation Wheels: Use these wheels for expressive control over pitch and other assignable parameters.
Display Navigation
The full-color 3.5-inch display provides visual feedback and allows for direct control of various functions. Use the 8 contextual buttons surrounding the display to navigate menus, select presets, and adjust settings.
DAW Integration
The KeyLab 61 mk3 is designed for seamless integration with popular DAWs. Refer to your DAW's documentation for specific instructions on setting up a MIDI controller. Generally, you will need to:
- Open your DAW's preferences or settings.
- Locate the MIDI/Control Surfaces section.
- Select the Arturia KeyLab 61 mk3 as a MIDI input device and, if applicable, as a control surface.
- Ensure the KeyLab is set to the correct DAW mode if available (e.g., by pressing the 'DAW' button on the controller).
Analog Lab Pro Integration
When used with Analog Lab Pro, the KeyLab 61 mk3 offers deep integration. The display will show preset names, parameters, and allow for browsing sounds directly from the controller. Encoders and faders will automatically map to relevant sound parameters.
Maintenance
Cleaning
- Always disconnect the KeyLab from power before cleaning.
- Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe down the surface of the controller.
- For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the finish.
- Do not allow liquids to enter any openings.
Storage
Store the KeyLab 61 mk3 in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and excessive humidity. If transporting, use a protective case to prevent physical damage.
