3. Setup and First Use

3.1 Unboxing

Carefully remove the scale from its packaging. Inspect the scale for any signs of damage. If any damage is found, do not use the scale and contact customer support.

3.2 Battery Installation

Your Adamson Hybrid Scale requires 3 AAA batteries, which are included. To install:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the scale.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert the 3 AAA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.3 Initial Placement

For accurate readings, place the scale on a hard, flat, and stable surface. Avoid carpets, rugs, or uneven flooring, as these can affect accuracy.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Taking a Measurement

To obtain an accurate weight reading:

  1. Ensure the scale is on a hard, flat surface.
  2. Gently tap the center of the scale with your foot to activate it. The digital display will show "0.0" or "0.00".
  3. Once "0.0" or "0.00" is displayed, step onto the scale with bare feet, standing still and centered.
  4. Your weight will be displayed on both the digital LCD and the analog dial. The digital reading will flash a few times before locking in the final measurement.
  5. Step off the scale. The digital display will turn off automatically after a few seconds.

4.2 Unit Conversion (kg/lb)

The scale measures in both kilograms (kg) and pounds (lb). To switch between units, locate the unit switch button on the underside of the scale, usually near the battery compartment. Press this button to toggle between kg and lb.

5. Maintenance and Care

5.1 Cleaning

To clean your scale, wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the scale in water. Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the finish or electronic components.

5.2 Storage

Store the scale in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Do not place heavy objects on the scale when not in use.

5.3 Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator appears on the digital display, or if the display becomes dim or unresponsive, it is time to replace the batteries. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 3.2.

  • Inconsistent Readings:
    • Ensure the scale is placed on a hard, flat, and stable surface.

    • Ensure you are standing still and centered on the scale.
    • Check battery levels; low batteries can affect accuracy.
  • "Lo" or No Display: This indicates low battery power. Replace the 3 AAA batteries.
  • "Err" Message: This usually means the maximum weight capacity (180 kg / 400 lbs) has been exceeded, or there was an error during measurement. Step off the scale and try again.
  • Scale Does Not Turn On:
    • Check if batteries are installed correctly with the correct polarity.
    • Replace batteries with new ones.
    • Ensure the scale is on a flat surface and gently tap it to activate.
