Unboxing and Initial Setup

Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the camera.
  2. Insert the Leica BP-SCL6 battery into the compartment, ensuring correct orientation.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
  4. Connect the camera to the power adapter using the provided USB-C cable to charge the battery before first use. The charging indicator will show the charging status.

Memory Card Insertion

The Leica Q3 supports SD UHS-II memory cards. A 64GB card is often included.

  1. Open the memory card slot cover, typically located near the battery compartment.
  2. Insert the SD card with the contacts facing the correct direction until it clicks into place.
  3. Close the memory card slot cover.

Attaching the Lens Hood

The Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH lens comes with a dedicated lens hood to reduce flare and provide protection.

  1. Align the lens hood with the front of the lens.
  2. Twist the hood clockwise until it locks securely into position.

Operating the Camera

Power On/Off

To power on the camera, rotate the power switch located on the top plate. To power off, rotate it back to the 'OFF' position.

The Leica Q3 features intuitive controls for aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, accessible via physical dials and the touchscreen.

Shooting Modes

The Q3 offers various shooting modes to suit different photographic needs:
