3. Setup and Assembly
The ENGWE M20 2.0 comes partially assembled. Follow these steps to complete the assembly:
3.1. Unboxing and Initial Inspection
Carefully open the packaging and remove all components. Inspect for any visible damage during transit. Keep all packaging materials until assembly is complete and the bike is confirmed to be in working order.
3.2. Handlebar Attachment
Locate the handlebar and the bracket on the front fork. Remove the four bolts from the bracket. Position the handlebar with the gear shifter on your right-hand side. Reattach the handlebar using the same bracket and bolts, tightening them securely with the provided Allen key.
3.3. Front Wheel Installation
Before installing the front wheel, remove one nut, one washer, and one locking washer from one side of the axle. Also, remove the black plastic fork protector from the bottom of the fork. Carefully align the disc brake rotor with the caliper slot on the fork. Insert the axle through the wheel hub and the fork dropouts. Ensure the small piece of the locking washer aligns with the hole on the fork dropout. Reattach the washer and nut, tightening them evenly on both sides using the 15mm wrench provided.

Attach the front fender to the front fork. Remove the bolts from the designated mounting points on the fork. Position the fender and reattach the bolts, securing it firmly.
3.5. Headlight Attachment
The dual headlight assembly needs to be attached to the front fork. Remove the screws/bolts from the headlight bracket. Position the headlight assembly onto the fork, aligning the mounting holes. Reattach the screws/bolts from both sides. Connect the headlight wires to the corresponding connectors on the bike's wiring harness. You can adjust the angle of the headlights for optimal illumination.

3.7. Battery Installation and Initial Charge
Insert the battery into its designated slot on the bike frame. Ensure it clicks securely into place. Use the provided key to lock the battery. Before your first ride, fully charge the battery until the green light on the charger block indicates a full charge. 4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Powering On/Off
To power on the bike, ensure the battery switch is in the 'ON' position. Then, press and hold the power button on the handlebar display until the screen illuminates. To power off, press and hold the same button until the display turns off.
4.2. Display Functions
The colorful intelligent LCD display provides real-time riding data, including current speed (MPH), battery level, distance traveled (odometer/trip), and pedal assist (PAS) level. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the PAS level.
4.3. Riding Modes
The ENGWE M20 2.0 offers multiple riding modes:
- Pedal Assist (PAS) Mode: Provides electric assistance as you pedal. The level of assistance can be adjusted via the display. The bike can last up to 162 miles in PAS mode with dual batteries.
- Throttle Mode: Allows you to ride without pedaling by twisting the throttle. The maximum speed in throttle mode is 20 MPH. With dual batteries, the bike can last up to 63 miles in throttle mode.
4.4. Gear Shifting
The bike is equipped with a 7-speed Shimano Tourney derailleur. Use the shifter on the right handlebar to change gears according to terrain and desired speed. Shift smoothly to avoid damaging the chain or derailleur.
4.5. Headlight and Taillight Operation
The dual headlights and bright taillights enhance visibility. Use the dedicated button on the handlebar to turn the lights on or off. The taillight also functions as a brake light, illuminating brighter when brakes are applied.
4.6. Braking System
The ENGWE M20 2.0 features 203MM hydraulic disc brakes for strong and reliable stopping power. Apply both front and rear brakes simultaneously for optimal braking performance. Hydraulic disc brakes offer sensitive and stable braking even in extreme weather conditions.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the safety and longevity of your electric bike.
- Cleaning: Regularly clean your bike with a damp cloth. Avoid high-pressure washing directly on electrical components.
- Tire Pressure: Check tire pressure before each ride. The 20*4.0" fat tires require specific pressure for optimal performance across various terrains (city, snow, beaches, mountains).
- Brakes: Periodically inspect brake pads for wear and ensure proper brake lever tension. Adjust as needed or consult a professional bike mechanic.
- Chain: Keep the chain clean and lubricated to ensure smooth gear changes and prevent rust.
- Fasteners: Regularly check all bolts and nuts for tightness. Use a torque wrench to ensure they are tightened to the manufacturer's specifications. Over-tightening or under-tightening can lead to damage or safety hazards.
- Battery Care: Always charge the battery fully after each ride. Never leave the battery completely empty for extended periods, as this can damage the battery cells. Store the battery in a cool, dry place.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your ENGWE M20 2.0, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:
- Bike Not Powering On: Check if the battery is fully charged and properly seated. Ensure the battery's power switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Motor Not Assisting: Verify the PAS level on the display is not set to '0'. Check all electrical connections for looseness.
- Brakes Squealing/Ineffective: Inspect brake pads for wear or contamination. Ensure the brake calipers are properly aligned with the rotors.
- Gears Not Shifting Smoothly: Check for proper chain lubrication. Inspect the derailleur for alignment or damage.
For persistent issues, consult the detailed user manual or contact ENGWE customer support.
