4.2 Initial Configuration (Easy Setup)

The N300 WiFi Router can be easily set up using a smartphone or computer via its web interface.

  1. Connect to Router's WiFi: On your device (smartphone/PC), connect to the router's default WiFi network. The SSID (network name) and password are usually found on a label on the bottom of the router.
  2. Access Web Interface: Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (e.g., 192.168.10.1) into the address bar. You may be prompted to log in with default credentials (e.g., admin/admin).
  3. Follow Setup Wizard: The router's web interface will guide you through the initial setup process, including setting up your internet connection type (DHCP, Static IP, PPPoE), changing the WiFi SSID and password, and configuring security settings.

4.3 WPS Connection

For devices that support WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can connect to the network by simply pressing the WPS button on the router.

  1. Press the WPS button on your N300 WiFi Router (refer to Figure 3.2).
  2. Within two minutes, activate WPS on your client device (e.g., wireless adapter, smartphone). The devices will automatically connect.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 WISP Wireless Repeater Mode

WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) mode allows the router to connect to an existing wireless network (e.g., from your main router or a public hotspot) and then broadcast its own WiFi network, effectively extending the coverage.

  1. Access the router's web interface.
  2. Navigate to the operating mode settings and select "WISP Mode".
  3. Scan for available wireless networks and select the one you wish to extend. Enter its password if required.
  4. Configure the new SSID and password for your extended network.

5.2 Internet Access Control

This feature allows you to manage which devices can access the internet and when. It's useful for parental controls or restricting guest access.

  1. Log into the router's web interface.
  2. Find the "Internet Access Control" or "Parental Control" section.
  3. You can set up rules based on MAC addresses, IP addresses, or time schedules to allow or block internet access for specific devices.

5.3 QoS Bandwidth Control

Quality of Service (QoS) allows you to prioritize network traffic, ensuring that bandwidth-intensive applications (like video streaming or online gaming) receive sufficient bandwidth, while preventing other activities from slowing them down.

  1. Access the router's web interface.
  2. Locate the "QoS" or "Bandwidth Control" settings.
  3. You can set bandwidth limits for specific devices or prioritize certain types of traffic.

5.4 WLAN Schedule

The WLAN Schedule feature allows you to set specific times for your wireless network to be active or inactive. This can be used to conserve energy or manage internet access times.

  1. Log into the router's web interface.
  2. Navigate to the "WLAN Schedule" settings.
  3. Enable the schedule and set the desired "On Time" and "Off Time" for each day of the week.

5.5 Advanced Security

The router supports WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, and Mixed encryption options to protect your wireless network from unauthorized access. It is highly recommended to use WPA2-PSK for the strongest security.

  1. Access the router's web interface.
  2. Go to the "Wireless Security" or "Security" settings.
  3. Select WPA2-PSK as the security mode and set a strong, unique password for your WiFi network.

6. Maintenance

  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the U-SPEED official website for firmware updates. Keeping your router's firmware up-to-date ensures optimal performance, security, and access to new features.
  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the router with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols. Ensure ventilation holes are clear of dust.
  • Placement: Place the router in a central location, away from obstructions, large metal objects, and interference sources (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones) to maximize WiFi coverage.
  • Rebooting: If you experience network issues, try rebooting the router by unplugging the power adapter for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Solution
No Internet Access
  • Check if the WAN port cable is securely connected to your modem.
  • Ensure your modem is working correctly and has an active internet connection.
  • Reboot both the modem and the router.
  • Verify your internet connection settings in the router's web interface.
Weak WiFi Signal or Dead Zones
  • Relocate the router to a more central position in your home/office.
  • Avoid placing the router near large metal objects, concrete walls, or other electronic devices that may cause interference.
  • Adjust the antennas for optimal signal direction.
  • Consider using the WISP Repeater Mode to extend coverage.
Cannot Access Router's Web Interface
  • Ensure your device is connected to the router's WiFi or via an Ethernet cable to a LAN port.
  • Verify you are entering the correct IP address (e.g., 192.168.10.1).
  • Clear your browser's cache or try a different browser.
  • If you forgot the login credentials, you may need to perform a factory reset (see below).
Forgot WiFi Password or Router Login Password
  • Perform a factory reset: With the router powered on, press and hold the WPS/Reset button for about 5-10 seconds until the lights flash. The router will revert to its default settings (SSID and password on the label).
  • Note: A factory reset will erase all your custom settings.
