Setup
Battery Installation and Charging
The Insta360 X4 is equipped with a 2290mAh battery, providing up to 135 minutes of recording time at 5.7K30fps. Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use.
- To install the battery, open the battery compartment by sliding the latch. Insert the battery with the contacts facing inward. Close the compartment securely.
- To charge, connect the camera to a power source using the provided Type-C to Type-C cable. The indicator light will be red during charging and turn off when fully charged.
MicroSD Card Insertion
A Micro SDXC card is required for recording. The camera supports various capacities; ensure it is compatible with 8K video recording speeds.
- Open the battery compartment. The Micro SDXC card slot is located next to the battery.
- Insert the Micro SDXC card with the label facing the front of the camera until it clicks into place.
Lens Guards
The X4 comes with standard lens guards that are easy to apply and remove, offering protection for the camera's dual lenses.
- Align the markings on the lens guards with the tabs on the lower right side of the lens.
- Rotate the lens guards clockwise to align the mark on the lens guards with the round hole in the camera's microphone to secure them.
Camera Activation
Before first use, activate your Insta360 X4 via the Insta360 app.
- Download the Insta360 app from your device's app store.
- Ensure your phone's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled.
- Power on the Insta360 X4. Open the Insta360 app and connect to the camera.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete activation and update firmware if prompted.

Button Functions
- Power Button: Short press to power on. Short press again to put the screen to sleep. Press and hold for 2 seconds to power off.
- Quick Button: Short press to enter the preset page, allowing quick switching of shooting modes.
- Shutter Button: Press to record a video or take a photo. The indicator light blinks red during recording. Long press to cancel recording and immediately delete the footage.
- Lens Button: Press to switch between different shooting modes.
Interface Navigation
The X4 features a 2.5-inch touchscreen for easy navigation and preview.
- Main Screen: Displays SD Card Status, Battery Status, Shooting Parameters, Adjust FOV, Shooting Mode, and Switch Lens options.
