Introduction

Welcome to The Game of Life: Barbie Edition! This board game allows players to experience a Barbie-themed journey, making choices about careers, homes, and friends. The objective is to accumulate the most Dream Points by the time all players reach the Malibu Beach Party.

This edition offers a simplified gameplay experience, focusing on core mechanics while incorporating unique Barbie elements. It is designed for 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up.

Game Components

Before starting, ensure all components listed below are present:

• 91 Cards (56 Action cards, 22 Dream Career cards, 9 DreamHouse cards, 4 Trendsetter cards)
• 4 Dream Convertibles (player cars)
• 42 Pegs (for family and friends)

Setup

1. Place the Gameboard: Unfold the gameboard and place it on a flat playing surface.
2. Assemble the Spinner: Securely slide the spinner assembly into the designated area on the gameboard.
3. Sort Cards: Separate the Action, Dream Career, DreamHouse, and Trendsetter cards into their respective decks. Shuffle each deck and place them face down in their designated spots on the gameboard.
4. Choose a Banker: One player acts as the banker, responsible for managing the Dream Points. The banker also handles bank loans.
5. Distribute Starting Funds: Each player receives 100K Dream Points from the bank.
6. Select a Convertible and Pegs: Each player chooses a Dream Convertible (car) and a matching player peg. Place the player peg into your car.
7. Choose Your Path: Each player decides whether to start on the "College Path" or the "Career Path" at the beginning of the game.

Operating (How to Play)

The youngest player begins the game, and play proceeds to the left.

On Your Turn:

1. Spin and Move: Spin the spinner and move your car the indicated number of spaces along your chosen path.
2. Land on a Space: Follow the instructions on the space you land on. This may involve drawing cards, collecting or paying Dream Points, or taking specific actions.
3. Stop Spaces: If you land on a STOP space, you must stop there, even if you have moves left. Follow the instructions on the STOP space before your turn ends.
4. Payday: Collect your salary any time you pass a Payday space.
5. End of Turn: Your turn ends, and the player to your left takes their turn.

Special Spaces and Actions:

• Payday Spaces: Collect your salary from the bank.
• Career Spaces: Draw a Dream Career card. You can choose to keep your current career or take the new one. Some career cards require a college degree.
• Action Spaces: Draw an Action card and follow its instructions.
• Add a Peg Spaces: Add a cat, dog, or friend peg to your car.
• House Spaces: You may choose to buy a DreamHouse. Draw a DreamHouse card, pay the purchase price, and place the card in front of you.
• Invest Spaces: You can invest Dream Points to earn more.
• Trendsetter Spaces: Land on a Trendsetter space to set a new fashion trend. Earn Dream Points when other players spin that trend's number.
• Get Married: If you land on this space, pay the bank 50K for wedding expenses and add a peg to your car.
• Retire Early: You can choose to retire early, but you will collect fewer Dream Points at the end of the game.

Winning the Game

The game ends when all players reach the Malibu Beach Party space. Once everyone has retired, follow these steps to determine the winner:

1. Sell Your DreamHouses: Each player sells their DreamHouse cards back to the bank for the price indicated on the card.
2. Collect Pegs: Collect 10K Dream Points for each peg in your car (including your own player peg).
3. Count Your Dream Points: The player with the most Dream Points wins the game! In case of a tie, the player who retired first wins.
