5. Operation and App Integration

The WenzhiIoT Presence Sensor requires a Zigbee hub (Tuya Zigbee gateway recommended) and the Smart Life/Tuya app for full functionality and configuration.

5.1 Pairing with a Zigbee Hub

  1. Ensure your Tuya Zigbee gateway is powered on and connected to your network.
  2. Open the Smart Life or Tuya app on your smartphone.
  3. Follow the app's instructions to add a new device. Select "Sensor" or "Presence Sensor" category.
  4. The sensor should automatically enter pairing mode upon power-up. If not, refer to the sensor's specific reset procedure (usually a button press).
  5. Once detected, follow the in-app prompts to complete the pairing process.

5.2 App Parameters and Settings

The Smart Life/Tuya app allows extensive customization of the sensor's behavior, including detection sensitivity, delay times, and relay modes.

Image 5.1: App interface displaying common parameter settings for the presence sensor.

Common Parameter Settings:

  • Sensitivity: Adjusts the sensor's responsiveness to presence and motion.
  • Departure Delay: Sets the time before the sensor reports "no presence" after detection ceases.
  • Detection Range: Configures the maximum distance for detection.
  • Entry Sensitivity: Fine-tunes detection upon entry into the zone.
  • Entry Filter Time: Filters out brief, insignificant entries.
  • Entry Distance Indentation: Adjusts the effective entry detection boundary.
  • Shield Range: Defines a minimum distance within which detection is ignored.
  • Block Time: Sets a period during which the sensor will not re-trigger after an event.

5.3 16A Relay Function

The integrated 16A relay allows the sensor to directly control a connected electrical load, such as a light. Three relay modes are available in the app:

  • Standard (Cloud Linkage): The relay can be remotely controlled (turned ON/OFF) via the Smart Life/Tuya app.
  • Local (Automatic): If human presence is detected, the relay will automatically turn ON. When no presence is detected, it will turn OFF after the configured delay.
  • Not Support (Disable Relay): The relay function is disabled. The device operates solely as a presence sensor.

5.4 Luminance Detection

The sensor includes an illuminance monitor. This feature allows for smart scene linkage with other smart devices. For example, you can configure your house lights to turn ON or OFF automatically based on changes in ambient brightness, enhancing energy efficiency and convenience.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your WenzhiIoT Presence Sensor, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
Sensor not detecting presence accurately or false positives.
  • Sensitivity: Adjust the "Sensitivity" parameter in the app. A higher value increases sensitivity, a lower value decreases it.
  • Detection Range: Ensure the "Detection Range" is set appropriately for your space.
  • Shield Range: If false positives occur at very close distances, increase the "Shield Range" to ignore detection within a specified minimum distance.
  • Obstructions: Ensure there are no physical obstructions blocking the sensor's field of view.
  • Interference: Minimize other 2.4GHz devices nearby if experiencing consistent issues.
Sensor not pairing with Zigbee hub.
  • Power: Verify the sensor is powered correctly (AC 85-265V).
  • Hub Proximity: Ensure the sensor is within range of your Zigbee hub.
  • Reset: Try resetting the sensor to factory defaults (refer to specific device instructions for reset button location/method).
  • Hub Compatibility: Confirm your Zigbee hub is compatible with Tuya Zigbee devices.
Relay not controlling connected device.
  • Wiring: Double-check the wiring connections for the relay and the connected load (refer to Section 4.2).
  • Relay Mode: Ensure the "Breaker mode" in the app is set to "Standard" or "Local (Automatic)", not "Not Support".
  • Load Compatibility: Verify the connected device's power requirements do not exceed the 16A relay capacity.
Luminance detection not working or inaccurate.
  • App Settings: Check the "Illumin threshold" setting in the app.
  • Sensor Placement: Ensure the sensor's light sensor is not obstructed or in a consistently shadowed area.

7. Maintenance

The WenzhiIoT Presence Sensor requires minimal maintenance to ensure optimal performance.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the sensor's surface with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the Smart Life/Tuya app regularly for any available firmware updates for the sensor. Updates can improve performance and add new features.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the sensor is operated within its specified environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) to prevent damage.

8. Warranty and Support

For warranty information and technical support, please refer to the official WenzhiIoT website or contact their customer service directly. Details are typically provided on the product packaging or the manufacturer's official online resources.
