4.3 Reference Point Adjustment
The device can measure from its front edge or its rear edge. Press the REF button to switch the reference point. An icon on the display will indicate the current reference point.
5. Measurement Modes
5.1 Single Distance Measurement
- Press the MEAS button once to activate the laser.
- Aim the laser dot at the target point.
- Press the MEAS button again to take the measurement. The result will be displayed.
5.2 Continuous Measurement (Tracking)
- Press and hold the MEAS button for approximately 2 seconds. The device will enter continuous measurement mode.
- Move the device to track the distance. The display will update in real-time, showing current, minimum, and maximum values.
- Press the MEAS button again to exit continuous measurement mode.
5.3 Area Measurement
- Press the FUNC button until the area icon (a square) appears on the display.
- Measure the first side (length) by pressing MEAS.
- Measure the second side (width) by pressing MEAS.
- The device will automatically calculate and display the area.
5.4 Volume Measurement
- Press the FUNC button until the volume icon (a cube) appears on the display.
- Measure the length, width, and height sequentially by pressing MEAS after each dimension.
- The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.
5.5 Pythagorean Measurement
The Pythagorean mode allows for indirect measurement of heights or distances using two or three measurements. Press the FUNC button until the desired Pythagorean icon appears (e.g., for two-point or three-point measurement).
- Follow the on-screen prompts to take the required measurements (e.g., hypotenuse and one leg for a two-point measurement).
- The device will calculate and display the unknown dimension.

6. Data Storage and Recall
The Deli DL4169 can store up to 30 groups of measurements.
- Storing Measurements: After a measurement is taken, it is automatically saved to the device's memory.
- Recalling Measurements: Press the MEM button to enter memory mode. Use the arrow buttons (if available, or cycle through with MEM) to browse through stored measurements.
- Clearing Memory: Refer to the on-screen menu or specific button combinations for clearing stored data, typically by holding the OFF or CLR button while in memory mode.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the laser lens is kept clean for accurate measurements.
- Storage: Store the device in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always use new, high-quality AAA batteries.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on. | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries. | Check battery polarity or replace with new batteries. |
| Inaccurate measurements. | Dirty laser lens, unstable surface, incorrect reference point, or environmental interference. | Clean the laser lens. Ensure a stable measurement surface. Verify the correct reference point is selected. Avoid measuring through glass or highly reflective surfaces. |
| Laser not visible. | Bright ambient light or laser not activated. | Use in lower light conditions or press the MEAS button to activate the laser. |
| Display shows "Error". | Measurement out of range or internal error. | Ensure target is within the 80m range. Restart the device. If the error persists, contact customer support. |
