4. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or death.

  • This battery is designed for energy storage applications and is not suitable for starting engines, golf carts, or jacks.
  • Ensure proper ventilation when charging or discharging.
  • Do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
  • Do not expose the battery to fire or extreme heat.
  • Do not disassemble, puncture, or modify the battery.
  • Use only compatible LiFePO4 chargers.
  • If OT terminals are attached directly with screws and their thickness is less than 2mm, add gaskets for lock attachment to prevent loosening and overheating.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Initial Activation

After first receiving the battery or if it has been switched off for an extended period, you need to activate it. Charge the battery using a lithium-activation charger or an MPPT charger to activate the Bluetooth function and ensure full functionality.

5.2 Terminal Connection

Connect your devices to the M8 terminals using the provided bolts and insulating caps. Ensure connections are secure to prevent arcing or overheating. If using thin OT terminals (less than 2mm thick), use appropriate gaskets to ensure a tight and safe connection.

5.3 Series and Parallel Connections

This battery supports connecting up to 16 batteries in a 4-series, 4-parallel (4P4S) configuration. This allows for creating systems up to 48V 200Ah, providing 10240Wh of energy and a maximum load power of 10240W. When connecting batteries in series or parallel, ensure all batteries are of the same voltage and capacity, and follow proper wiring diagrams to maintain balance and safety.

6. Operating Instructions

The LiTime 12V 50Ah LiFePO4 battery is ideal for powering trolling motors with 12V thrust up to 20-70 lbs, fish finders, and other marine or RV electronics.

  • Discharge Rate: The maximum continuous discharge current is 1C (50A). It can sustain a maximum 1.2C (60A) continuous discharge for up to 30 minutes. Ensure your load does not exceed these limits.
  • Low-Temperature Operation: The battery features low-temperature protection. Charging will automatically stop below 0°C/32°F and resume above 5°C/41°F. Discharging will stop below -20°C/-4°F.

8. Charging Guidelines

Proper charging is crucial for the lifespan of your LiFePO4 battery. Always use a charger specifically designed for LiFePO4 batteries.

  • Recommended Chargers: LiFePO4 battery chargers, MPPT solar charge controllers (for solar systems), generators (AC to DC chargers), and alternators (DC to DC chargers).
  • Charge Rate:
    • 0.2C (10A): Approximately 5 hours
    • 0.5C (25A): Approximately 2 hours (Recommended)
    • 1C (50A): Approximately 1 hour
  • Low-Temperature Charging: The BMS will automatically prevent charging when the internal battery temperature is below 0°C (32°F) to protect the cells. Charging will resume once the temperature rises above 5°C (41°F).
