5. Operation

Your DoCred Raised Garden Bed with PVC Cover offers versatile functionality for plant cultivation.

5.1 Using as a Raised Garden Bed

  • Fill the raised bed with appropriate soil mix for your plants. The open base design allows for direct contact with the ground, promoting good drainage and nutrient absorption.
  • Plant your desired vegetables, flowers, or fruits.
  • Water regularly, considering the soil type and plant needs.

5.2 Using as a Mini Greenhouse

  • Attach the PVC cover over the raised bed to create a mini greenhouse environment. This is ideal for extending the growing season in cooler months (winter or early spring) or protecting plants from pests.
  • Roll-Up Window: The greenhouse features a roll-up window. Use this to regulate temperature and humidity inside the greenhouse. Roll it up for ventilation on warmer days or to allow pollinators access. Roll it down to retain heat and protect plants from cold, wind, or animals.
  • Monitor internal temperature and humidity, especially on sunny days, to prevent overheating.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will extend the lifespan of your raised garden bed and greenhouse.

  • Cleaning the PVC Cover: Clean the PVC cover periodically with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or brushes that could scratch or damage the material. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Frame Inspection: Periodically check all screws and connections on both the raised bed and greenhouse frame to ensure they remain tight. Tighten as necessary.
  • Seasonal Storage: During extreme weather conditions or off-season, consider disassembling the greenhouse frame and storing the PVC cover indoors to protect it from prolonged UV exposure and harsh elements.
  • Drainage: Ensure the open base of the garden bed remains clear of obstructions to maintain proper drainage.

7. Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:

Issue: Greenhouse cover blows off in wind.
Solution: Ensure the cover is securely fastened to the frame. For added stability in windy areas, use ground anchors or heavy objects to secure the entire structure. Consider placing the unit in a more sheltered location.
Issue: Water accumulation in the raised bed.
Solution: The raised bed has an open bottom for drainage. Ensure the ground beneath is not compacted and allows water to drain freely. If placed on an impermeable surface, consider adding a layer of gravel for improved drainage before adding soil.
Issue: Plants inside the greenhouse are wilting or showing signs of stress.
Solution: Check the internal temperature. Overheating can occur on sunny days. Utilize the roll-up window for ventilation. Ensure adequate watering, as plants in greenhouses may require more frequent watering due to increased evaporation.
