  • Secure Location: Place the router in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your ER-605 router.

7.1 No Internet Access

  • Check Cables: Ensure all Ethernet cables are securely connected to the correct ports (modem to WAN, computer to LAN).
  • Modem Status: Verify that your modem is working correctly and has an active internet connection. Try rebooting the modem.
  • Router LEDs: Check the WAN LED on the ER-605. If it's off or blinking erratically, there might be an issue with the connection to the modem or your ISP.
  • IP Settings: Ensure your computer is set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP).
  • Router Reboot: Power cycle the ER-605 router by unplugging it for 10 seconds and plugging it back in.
  • ISP Connection Type: Confirm that the WAN connection type configured on the router matches your ISP's requirements (e.g., Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE).

7.2 Cannot Access Web Management Page

  • IP Address: Ensure you are using the correct default IP address (192.168.0.1) or domain name (tplinkwifi.net).
  • Cable Connection: Verify your computer is directly connected to one of the router's LAN ports.
  • IP Conflict: Check if your computer has a static IP address that conflicts with the router's subnet. Set it to obtain an IP automatically.
  • Firewall/Antivirus: Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer that might be blocking access.
  • Browser Cache: Clear your browser's cache and cookies, or try a different web browser.

7.3 Slow Network Speed

  • Bandwidth Management: Check if any bandwidth limits or QoS rules are configured that might be restricting speed.
  • Cable Quality: Ensure you are using high-quality Ethernet cables (Cat5e or Cat6) for all connections.
  • ISP Speed: Verify your internet speed with your ISP.
  • Firmware: Ensure your router's firmware is up to date.

7.4 Factory Reset

If issues persist, you may need to perform a factory reset. This will revert all settings to their default values.

  1. With the router powered on, locate the RESET button on the front panel.
  2. Use a paperclip or a thin object to press and hold the RESET button for approximately 5-10 seconds until the System LED blinks rapidly.
  3. Release the button. The router will reboot with factory default settings.
