5. Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure the power supply is disconnected at the main circuit breaker.

5.1 Mounting the Lamp

  1. Choose a suitable mounting location on a wall, ensuring it is within reach of the electrical wiring.
  2. Mark the drilling points on the wall using the lamp's base as a template.
  3. Drill holes and insert appropriate wall plugs (if necessary).
  4. Secure the lamp base to the wall using screws.

5.2 Electrical Connection

  1. Connect the live (L) and neutral (N) wires from your electrical supply to the corresponding terminals inside the lamp's base. This lamp does not require an earth connection.
  2. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.
  3. Close the wiring compartment securely.

5.3 Adjusting the Lamp Head

The LED lamp head can be adjusted to direct light as needed. Gently pivot the lamp head to the desired angle. Refer to Figure 5 for visual guidance on adjustability.

6. Operating Instructions

The Maclean MCE516 features a motion sensor and a twilight sensor for automatic operation.

6.1 Sensor Controls

The control dials for TIME and LUX are located on the underside of the sensor unit. (Refer to Figure 6).

This image provides a detailed view of the two adjustment dials on the Maclean MCE516 LED Wall Light: 'TIME' for setting illumination duration and 'LUX' for adjusting ambient light sensitivity.

  • TIME Dial: Adjusts the duration the light remains on after motion is detected.
    • Rotate towards '-' for shorter duration (minimum 10 seconds).
    • Rotate towards '+' for longer duration (maximum 5 minutes).
  • LUX Dial: Adjusts the ambient light level at which the sensor becomes active.
    • Rotate towards 'moon' symbol for activation only in very low light conditions (dusk/night).
    • Rotate towards 'sun' symbol for activation in brighter ambient light conditions.

6.2 Motion Sensor Operation

The Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensor detects movement within its detection zone (up to 9 meters, 140° angle). When motion is detected and the ambient light level is below the set LUX threshold, the lamp will illuminate for the set TIME duration.

7. Maintenance

The Maclean MCE516 LED Wall Light requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the lamp's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the sensor lens is clear of dirt and obstructions for optimal performance.
  • LEDs: The integrated LED light source is designed for long life (up to 25,000 hours) and is not user-replaceable.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Lamp does not turn on.
  • No power supply.
  • LUX setting too high (daylight).
  • No motion detected.
  • Faulty wiring.
  • Check circuit breaker and electrical connections.
  • Adjust LUX dial towards 'moon' symbol.
  • Test motion detection by walking into the sensor's range.
  • Verify wiring connections.
Lamp stays on continuously.
  • Continuous motion in detection zone.
  • TIME setting too long.
  • LUX setting too low (always dark).
  • Sensor malfunction.
  • Ensure no constant movement or heat sources are triggering the sensor.
  • Adjust TIME dial towards '-'.
  • Adjust LUX dial towards 'sun' symbol.
  • Contact support if problem persists after checking settings.
Lamp turns on during daylight.LUX setting too high.Adjust LUX dial towards 'moon' symbol to activate only in darker conditions.
