1. Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the proper use and care of FORA Glucose Test Strips. These strips are designed for self-testing of blood glucose levels and are intended for in vitro diagnostic use only. Always consult your healthcare professional for interpretation of results.
2. Product Compatibility
FORA Glucose Test Strips are specifically designed for use with the following FORA Blood Glucose Monitoring Systems:
- FORA V10
- FORA V12
- FORA D10
- FORA D20
- FORA Premium V12
Important: These test strips are NOT compatible with the FORA Premium V10 Blood Glucose Monitoring System. Please verify your meter model before use to ensure accurate results.
3. Safety Information
- Keep test strips and all testing supplies out of reach of children.
- Do not ingest test strips.
- Store test strips in their original vial with the cap tightly closed.
- Do not use expired test strips. Check the expiration date on the vial.
- Dispose of used test strips and lancets in a proper sharps container.
- Consult your healthcare professional before making any changes to your medication or treatment plan based on test results.
4. Setup
4.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Upon receiving your FORA Glucose Test Strips, inspect the packaging for any signs of damage. Ensure the vial is sealed and the expiration date is valid. Each vial contains 50 test strips.
4.2 Inserting a Test Strip
Before testing, ensure your blood glucose meter is clean and functioning correctly. Remove one test strip from the vial and immediately close the cap tightly. Insert the test strip into the test strip port of your FORA blood glucose meter. The meter will typically turn on automatically and display a symbol indicating it is ready for blood application.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Preparing for a Test
- Wash your hands thoroughly with warm, soapy water and dry them completely.
- Prepare your lancing device according to its instructions.
- Ensure you have a FORA Glucose Test Strip inserted into your compatible FORA meter.
5.2 Applying Blood to the Test Strip
Once the meter is ready, obtain a blood sample using your lancing device. Touch the tip of the test strip to the drop of blood. The strip will automatically draw the blood into the reaction area. Do not apply blood to the top of the strip. Any area of the strip can be touched, and the glucose reading will not be affected.

Image: FORA Glucose Test Strips packaging. The image displays the product box, highlighting key features such as '0.7 µL / 7 seconds' for testing, 'FORA' branding, and instructions for blood application. It also indicates compatibility with 'V10/D10/D20/V12/Premium V12' meters and includes a note on correct blood application technique (do not apply to the top of the strip, any area can be touched).
5.3 Reading Results
The meter will begin counting down (typically 7 seconds) and then display your blood glucose result. Record your result in a logbook or your meter's memory. Remove the used test strip from the meter and dispose of it properly.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Storage of Test Strips
- Store test strips in their original vial only. Do not transfer them to another container.
- Keep the vial cap tightly closed immediately after removing a strip to protect them from moisture and air.
- Store the vial in a cool, dry place at room temperature (typically between 4°C and 30°C / 39°F and 86°F). Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Do not refrigerate or freeze test strips.
- Use test strips within the expiration date printed on the vial and within the specified period after opening the vial (refer to your meter's manual or strip packaging for specific open-vial stability).
6.2 Disposal
Used test strips and lancets are considered biohazardous waste. Dispose of them in an approved sharps container to prevent accidental needle sticks or contamination. Consult your local regulations for proper disposal methods.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues during testing, refer to your FORA blood glucose meter's user manual for specific error codes and troubleshooting steps. Common issues related to test strips include:
- Error Message / Inaccurate Results: Ensure the test strip is not expired, the vial cap was tightly closed, and the strip was inserted correctly. Check if the blood sample size was sufficient.
- Meter Not Turning On: Verify the test strip is fully inserted into the meter. If the issue persists, check the meter's battery or consult its manual.
- No Blood Draw: Ensure the blood drop is large enough and the strip's absorbent tip is correctly touching the blood.
If problems persist, contact FORA customer support or your healthcare professional.
