2. Setup and Installation
Safety Precautions:
- This module is designed for indoor use only. Do not install or operate outdoors.
- Ensure the applied load does not exceed the rated power of 100A/22000W.
- Wiring order is critical. Incorrect wiring can damage the device or pose a safety hazard.
- Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or under professional supervision.
- Always disconnect power before installation or maintenance.
Wiring Instructions:
The PZEM-022 Power Meter requires connection to the AC power supply and integration with a Closed Type Current Transformer (CT) for current measurement. Follow the diagram carefully.

Image 2.1: Wiring diagram showing connections for the power supply, the PZEM-022 meter, the current transformer (CT), and the load. Ensure correct polarity and connection points.
- Connect the AC power supply (80-260V, 50/60Hz) to the designated input terminals of the meter.
- Pass the load wire through the Closed Type CT. Ensure the direction of the current flow through the CT matches the meter's requirements (usually indicated by an arrow on the CT).
- Connect the CT output wires to the corresponding terminals on the meter.
- Connect the load to the output side of the circuit.
- Double-check all connections before restoring power.

3. Operation
Display Interface:
The large-screen LCD simultaneously displays six electrical parameters:
- Voltage (V)
- Current (A)
- Power (W/kW)
- Energy (Wh/kWh)
- Frequency (Hz)
- Power Factor (PF)

Image 3.1: Close-up view of the PZEM-022 Power Meter's LCD, showing the simultaneous display of voltage, current, power, energy, frequency, and power factor.
Parameter Reading and Display Format:
- Power: Test range 0~22000W. Starting measure power: 0.5W. Displays in W or kW based on value.
- Energy: Test range 0~999kWh. Displays in Wh or kWh based on value.
- Voltage: Test range 80~260V.
- Current: Test range 0~100A. Starting measure current: 0.002A.
- Frequency: Test range 45~65Hz.
- Power Factor: Test range 0~1PF.
Overload Alarm Function:
When the measured power exceeds the preset alarm threshold, the meter's backlight will flash, and the power indicator will blink to alert the user of an overload condition.
Energy Reset Function:
To reset the accumulated energy (kWh) data, press and hold the designated key on the meter until the energy reading clears. This function allows for monitoring energy consumption over specific periods.
Backlight Adjustment:
The meter features an adjustable backlight for improved visibility in various lighting conditions. Refer to the device's physical buttons for backlight control, typically a short press of a specific button.
4. Maintenance
- Keep the meter clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure the meter is installed in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Regularly check wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear or damage.
- Do not attempt to open the meter casing, as this may void the warranty and expose you to electrical hazards.
5. Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions:
- No Display:
- Check if the power supply is connected correctly and within the operating voltage range (80-260VAC).
- Ensure all wiring connections are secure.
- Incorrect Readings (Current/Power):
- Verify that the Closed Type CT is installed correctly and the load wire passes through it in the correct direction.
- Ensure the CT output wires are connected to the correct terminals on the meter.
- Overload Alarm Constantly Active:
- Check the connected load to ensure it does not exceed the meter's rated power (22000W).
- Review the preset power alarm threshold. Adjust if necessary.
- Energy Data Not Resetting:
- Ensure you are pressing and holding the energy reset key for the required duration.
If issues persist after following these steps, contact customer support for further assistance.
