Setup
1. Battery Installation
The Defender Pro Scout Max HD camera operates on 8 AA batteries. For best performance, use high-quality alkaline or lithium batteries.
- Open the camera housing latch.
- Locate the battery compartment.
- Insert 8 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment and secure the latch.
2. SD Card Installation
A high-speed SDXC memory card (up to 512GB) is required to store images and videos.
- With the camera powered off, locate the SD card slot.
- Insert the SD card with the label facing up until it clicks into place.
- To remove, push the card in until it clicks, then release.

3. Cellular Activation and App Setup
Your camera comes with pre-installed AT&T and Verizon SIM cards for dual SIM connectivity. To activate cellular functions and manage your camera, download the Browning Trail Cameras app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Download the "Browning Trail Cameras" app from your device's app store.
- Create an account or log in.
- Follow the in-app instructions to add your camera. This typically involves scanning a QR code (if available on packaging) or manually entering the camera's unique ID.
- Select a data plan suitable for your needs. Refer to the data plan table for options.

Operating Your Camera
Powering On/Off
To power on the camera, slide the power switch to the "ON" position. To power off, slide it to "OFF".

The camera features various settings accessible via the internal control panel or remotely through the mobile app. Key settings include:

Viewing and Managing Media

Maintenance
Battery Replacement
Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the camera or in the mobile app. Always replace all 8 batteries at once with new ones of the same type.
SD Card Management
Regularly check the SD card capacity via the app. Format the SD card periodically to maintain optimal performance and prevent data corruption. Back up important media before formatting.
Cleaning
