Setup

The Tapo D225 offers flexible installation options, supporting both battery-powered and hardwired setups. For initial setup, ensure the doorbell is charged using the provided USB cable. The LED will blink amber quickly for 3 seconds when charging. It is recommended to charge the doorbell before use, which takes about 6 hours. Peel off the film from the doorbell before use. Do not tear off the silicone part by force as it may affect waterproof performance.

Power Options: Battery or Hardwired

The doorbell features a built-in 10,000mAh battery, providing up to 8 months of battery life between charges for wire-free installation. Alternatively, you can hardwire the doorbell (8-24V) to your existing doorbell wiring for continuous 24/7 recording. Note that continuous recording mode does not support existing chime use, requiring the included modular chime.

Mounting

The doorbell should be placed approximately 4 feet above the ground. Avoid obstructions on the left and right sides, and do not point the doorbell directly at swaying trees, vehicles, or pedestrians on the road to prevent false alarms. Avoid direct sunlight and keep away from metal doors to avoid affecting the signal. The included 15° horizontal and 5° vertical wedges allow you to optimize installation angles for desired area coverage.
