2. Safety Information

Always observe general safety precautions when operating power tools. Failure to do so may result in serious injury or property damage.

  • Read all instructions: Familiarize yourself with the tool's operation and safety warnings.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and a dust mask. Gloves are recommended.
  • Secure workpiece: Ensure the material being sanded is firmly clamped or secured to prevent movement during operation.
  • Maintain a clean work area: Cluttered areas and benches invite accidents.
  • Avoid accidental starting: Ensure the tool is disconnected from the air supply before making adjustments or changing accessories.
  • Use correct air pressure: Operate the sander within the recommended air pressure range (typically 90 PSI / 6.2 Bar) to prevent damage and ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect tool before use: Check for damaged parts, proper alignment, and any other condition that may affect its operation.
  • Disconnect air supply: Always disconnect the air supply when not in use, before changing accessories, or performing maintenance.
  • Keep hands clear: Do not touch the sanding pad or abrasive disc while the tool is operating.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation in the work area, especially when sanding materials that produce fine dust.

4. Setup

  1. Air Supply Connection: Connect the sander to a clean, dry, regulated air supply. The recommended operating pressure is 90 PSI (6.2 Bar). Ensure the air hose is free of kinks and adequately sized for optimal airflow.
  2. Abrasive Disc Attachment:
    • Ensure the sander is disconnected from the air supply.
    • Align the holes on the abrasive disc with the corresponding hooks on the sanding pad.
    • Press the disc firmly onto the pad to ensure a secure attachment.
  3. Pre-Operation Check: Before starting, ensure all connections are secure and the abrasive disc is properly seated.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Grip the Sander: Hold the sander firmly with both hands if necessary, ensuring a stable grip.
  2. Start the Sander: Depress the throttle lever to start the sander. The speed can be controlled by the amount of pressure applied to the lever.
  3. Apply to Workpiece: Gently place the spinning abrasive disc flat onto the surface of the workpiece. Avoid tilting the sander, as this can create uneven sanding patterns or gouges.
  4. Sanding Motion: Move the sander in overlapping circular or elliptical patterns across the surface. Apply light, even pressure. Let the tool do the work; excessive pressure will reduce efficiency and may damage the motor or surface.
  5. Monitor Dust: For optimal performance and safety, ensure dust is managed. While this model is non-vacuum, consider external dust extraction or working in a well-ventilated area.
  6. Stop the Sander: Release the throttle lever to stop the sander. Lift the tool from the workpiece only after the pad has stopped spinning.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Dynabrade sander.

  • Disconnect Air Supply: Always disconnect the air supply before performing any maintenance.
  • Clean the Tool: Regularly wipe down the exterior of the sander with a clean, dry cloth. Remove any dust or debris from air vents.
  • Lubrication: For pneumatic tools, it is crucial to ensure proper lubrication. Use a few drops of pneumatic tool oil in the air inlet before each use or at regular intervals, depending on usage frequency. This lubricates the internal motor components.
  • Inspect Air Filter/Regulator: If using an inline air filter/regulator, check and drain any accumulated moisture daily. Clean or replace the filter element as needed.
  • Sanding Pad Inspection: Periodically inspect the sanding pad for wear, damage, or loss of hook-and-loop effectiveness. Replace worn pads to ensure proper abrasive adhesion and consistent sanding results.
  • Hose and Fittings: Check air hoses and fittings for leaks, cracks, or damage. Replace any compromised components immediately.
  • Storage: Store the sander in a clean, dry environment away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
