3. Setup and Assembly

Your SAMEBIKE electric bicycle comes mostly pre-assembled. Follow these steps to complete the setup and prepare for your first ride.

3.1 Unfolding the Bicycle

  1. Carefully remove the bicycle from its packaging.
  2. Locate the main frame hinge and release the safety latch.
  3. Unfold the frame until it locks into place. Secure the safety latch.
  4. Unfold the handlebar stem and secure it with its quick-release lever and safety latch.
  5. Adjust the handlebar height and angle for comfortable riding.

3.2 Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Insert the fully charged battery into its compartment on the frame.
  2. Ensure the battery is securely locked using the provided key.
  3. To charge, remove the battery or plug the charger directly into the charging port on the bike.
  4. Connect the charger to a power outlet. The indicator light on the charger will show charging status (usually red for charging, green for fully charged).
  5. Do not overcharge the battery. Disconnect once fully charged.

3.3 Adjusting Seat and Handlebars

  • Seat Height: Loosen the quick-release lever on the seat post. Adjust the seat to a height where your feet can comfortably touch the ground when stopped, or where your leg has a slight bend at the knee when the pedal is at its lowest point. Secure the quick-release lever.
  • Handlebar Height/Angle: Adjust the handlebar stem height and angle for a comfortable and ergonomic riding position. Ensure all quick-release levers are tightened before riding.

4. Operating Instructions

Familiarize yourself with the controls and riding modes before your first ride.

4.1 Powering On/Off and Display

  • Power On: Press and hold the power button on the display unit.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the power button again.
  • Display: The digital display shows current speed, battery level, odometer, trip distance, and pedal assist level.

4.2 Riding Modes

The SAMEBIKE CY20-FT offers three distinct riding modes:

  1. Pure Electric Mode: Use the thumb throttle to propel the bicycle without pedaling. This mode provides up to 40 km (25 miles) range on a full charge.
  2. Pedal Assist Mode (PAS): The motor provides assistance as you pedal. Adjust the assist level on the display. This mode extends the range to over 60 km (37 miles).
  3. Pedal Mode: Ride the bicycle like a traditional bike without any motor assistance.

4.3 Shifting Gears

The bicycle is equipped with a 7-speed mechanical shifter. Use the shifter on the right handlebar to change gears according to terrain and desired speed. Shift to a lower gear for climbing hills and a higher gear for flat terrain or downhill riding.

4.4 Braking System

The SAMEBIKE CY20-FT features hydraulic disc brakes for effective stopping power. The left lever controls the rear brake, and the right lever controls the front brake. Apply both brakes simultaneously for optimal stopping performance. Avoid sudden, hard braking, especially with the front brake, to prevent skidding.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your electric bicycle.

  • Tires: Check tire pressure before each ride. Maintain recommended pressure (usually indicated on the tire sidewall). Inspect for wear and punctures.
  • Brakes: Regularly check brake pads for wear and ensure brake levers operate smoothly. Adjust brake cables if necessary or have hydraulic brakes serviced by a professional.
  • Chain: Keep the chain clean and lubricated to ensure smooth shifting and prevent rust.
  • Battery Care:
    • Charge the battery regularly, even if not in use, to maintain its health.
    • Store the battery in a cool, dry place.
    • Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
    • Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures.
  • Frame and Components: Periodically check all bolts, nuts, and quick-release levers for tightness. Clean the frame with a damp cloth.
  • Motor: The brushless motor is generally maintenance-free. Keep it clean and free from debris.

6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your SAMEBIKE electric bicycle.
