1. Introduction

The WAVLINK UMD08 USB-C Docking Station is a 12-in-1 solution designed to expand the connectivity of your USB-C enabled laptop or device. It provides multiple ports for display output, data transfer, network connectivity, and power delivery, streamlining your workspace with a single cable connection.

This docking station features 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 2 HDMI ports, 1 DisplayPort, a Gigabit Ethernet port, an upstream USB-C port for host connection, SD/Micro SD card readers, and a 3.5mm audio jack. 3. System Requirements

To ensure proper functionality, your host device must meet the following requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7/XP/Vista, Mac OS X 10.X or above, Linux, Chrome OS, Android, HarmonyOS, iPadOS.
  • USB-C Port: Your device's USB-C port must be full-featured, supporting Data Transfer, USB-C Power Delivery, and Video Alternate Mode (Alt Mode).
  • Thunderbolt: Compatible with Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 ports.

If your USB-C port only supports data or data+video output without Power Delivery, certain functions of the docking station (e.g., charging, specific display outputs) may not be available.

4. Setup and Connection

4.1 Confirming USB-C Port Capabilities

Before connecting, it is crucial to confirm that your laptop's USB-C port supports video output and charging (Power Delivery). Refer to your laptop's manual or manufacturer's specifications.

4.2 Connecting the Docking Station

  1. Connect the integrated USB-C cable from the docking station to a full-featured USB-C port on your laptop.
  2. For power delivery to your laptop, connect your laptop's original power adapter to the USB-C PD (Power In) port on the docking station. An external wall charger is recommended for maximum output.
  3. Connect your external monitors to the HDMI and/or DisplayPort outputs on the docking station.
  4. Connect any USB peripherals (keyboard, mouse, external drives) to the available USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports.
  5. For a wired network connection, connect an Ethernet cable to the Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45) port.
  6. Insert SD or Micro SD cards into the respective slots for data access.
  7. Connect headphones or speakers to the 3.5mm audio jack.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power Delivery

The docking station supports up to 100W power input and provides up to 85W power output to charge your connected laptop. Ensure your laptop's USB-C port supports Power Delivery protocol for this function.

5.2 Display Configuration

The UMD08 docking station supports various display configurations depending on your host device's capabilities and operating system.

Windows Display Modes:

For Windows systems, the docking station supports single, dual, and triple monitor setups with various resolutions and refresh rates. Ensure your laptop supports DP1.4 with DSC for optimal performance.

  • Single Monitor: Up to 4K@60Hz (DP1.4 with DSC).
  • Dual Monitor: Up to 2x 4K@30Hz (DP1.4 with DSC).
  • Triple Monitor: Up to Dual 4K@30Hz + 1080P@60Hz (DP1.4 with DSC).

Common modes include Mirror Mode (duplicate displays) and Extend Mode (separate displays).

macOS Display Modes:

For Intel/M1/M2 based Mac systems, the docking station can only extend one monitor due to macOS limitations. Other external displays will mirror the content of the extended monitor.

Common modes include Non-Mirror Mode (one extended, others mirrored) and Mirror Mode (all displays show the same content).

    • Ensure your laptop's USB-C port supports Video Alternate Mode.

    • For macOS, remember that only one external monitor can be extended; others will mirror.
  • Laptop Not Charging:

    • Verify the power adapter is functioning correctly.
  • Intermittent Connections (Display/USB):
    • Ensure all cables are securely connected.

  • Ethernet Not Working:
