Operating Instructions

Normal Operation:

Once installed and activated, the smoke detector will continuously monitor for smoke. The LED indicator will flash periodically (e.g., every 53 seconds) to confirm it is functioning correctly.

Alarm Activation:

If smoke is detected, the alarm will sound loudly (85 dB) and the LED indicator will flash rapidly. If multiple HEIMAN detectors are interconnected, all connected units will also sound their alarms.

Mute Function:

To temporarily silence a nuisance alarm (e.g., from cooking), press the Power/Test/Mute button. The alarm will be silenced for a short period (e.g., 10 minutes) before automatically resetting. If smoke levels remain high, the alarm will reactivate.

Testing the Detector:

It is recommended to test your smoke detector weekly. Press and hold the Power/Test/Mute button for approximately 1 second. The alarm should sound, confirming the sensor and alarm are working.

Maintenance

Cleaning:

Dust and debris can affect the performance of your smoke detector. Gently vacuum the exterior of the detector using a soft brush attachment at least once a month. Do not use cleaning solvents or wet cloths.

Battery Replacement:

This smoke detector is designed with a 10-year sealed lithium battery, meaning the battery is not user-replaceable. The unit will indicate a low battery warning (e.g., chirping sound) when it reaches the end of its service life. At this point, the entire unit should be replaced.

Note: The manufacturer states the battery is not replaceable. The unit should be replaced after 10 years of operation or when the low battery warning sounds.
