7. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your meross Matter Smart Plug, follow these general maintenance guidelines:

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the plug to water or excessive humidity.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself. This will void the warranty and may pose safety risks.
  • Ensure the plug is used within its specified electrical ratings (15A/1800W, 120V).

8. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Device not connecting to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The plug does not support 5GHz networks.
    • Verify your router supports IPv6.
    • Check if your phone's Bluetooth is enabled during setup.
    • Move the smart plug closer to your Wi-Fi router.
    • If using a VLAN with client isolation, temporarily disable client isolation during setup, then re-enable it.
  • Zero Touch Setup (FFS) not working with Echo:
    • Confirm that the Amazon account used for purchasing the plug is the same as the one linked to your Echo device.
    • If FFS fails, proceed with the standard Matter setup process via your smart home app.
  • Energy monitoring data not appearing in third-party apps (e.g., HomeKit):
    • Energy monitoring data is primarily supported and displayed within the Meross app.
    • Ensure the device firmware is updated to the latest version, as newer Matter specifications (e.g., 1.3/1.4) may enable more data sharing.
  • Device frequently disconnects from smart home platform:
    • Verify your Matter-compatible hub is online and functioning correctly.
    • Ensure your smartphone's operating system (iOS 16.1+ or Android 8.1+) and the smart home app are updated to their latest versions.
