2. Setup

2.1 Unboxing and Components

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure the following items are present:

  • Water Filter Dispenser Unit
  • 5-in-1 Composite Filter (pre-installed or separate)
  • 9-cup Detachable Water Reservoir
  • 16.9 oz Reusable Glass Bottle
  • Power Adapter

2.2 Initial Placement

Place the dispenser on a flat, stable surface, such as a kitchen countertop. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for ventilation and easy access to the water reservoir.

2.3 First Use and Initial Flush

Before first use, it is recommended to perform an initial flush to prepare the filter and system. This process ensures optimal performance and taste.

  1. Fill the detachable water reservoir with tap water.
  2. Place a large container (at least 500ml capacity) under the dispenser nozzle.
  3. Press the dispense button to release water. Discard the first few dispenses.
  4. Repeat this process until the water runs clear and tastes fresh.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Filling the Water Reservoir

The dispenser features a 9-cup detachable water reservoir for convenient refilling. All parts in direct contact with water are made of BPA-free materials.

  1. Gently lift the water reservoir from the back of the unit.
  2. Fill the reservoir with ambient tap water up to the MAX line.
  3. Carefully place the filled reservoir back into its position on the dispenser.

3.2 Dispensing Water

The dispenser is designed for instant filtration with a simple press of a button. It consistently dispenses a standard volume of 16.9 oz (500ml) with each press.

  1. Place the included glass bottle or your preferred drinking glass under the nozzle.
  2. Press the dispense button located on the top of the unit.
  3. The dispenser will automatically stop once 16.9 oz of filtered water has been dispensed.

3.3 Complimentary Glass Bottle

The dispenser comes with a reusable high-quality glass bottle (16.9 oz) that can be chilled in the refrigerator, providing fresh and cold water on demand. The bottle is dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.

4. Filtration Technology

The PHILIPS Countertop Reverse Osmosis Water Filter Dispenser utilizes advanced Aquaporin Inside technology for superior water purification.

4.1 Aquaporin Inside Technology

This highly selective and long-lasting aquaporin technology has been tested in partnership with leading space agencies like NASA and ESA, ensuring access to filtered water even in demanding environments. It delivers exceptional water filtration by incorporating aquaporin proteins into the RO membrane.

4.2 5-Stage Deep Filtration

The system employs a 5-stage deep filtration process, filtering water down to 0.0001 micron. This comprehensive filtration effectively reduces:

  • Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
  • Lead
  • Calcium
  • Chromium III
  • Other harmful substances and contaminants

The system is NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 certified for lead-free material, ensuring the safety and purity of your drinking water.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Filter Replacement

The filter lifetime indicator on the dispenser reminds you when it's time for a replacement. Each filter lasts up to 12 months or filters up to 528 gallons (2000 liters) of water, significantly reducing plastic bottle waste.

  1. When the filter indicator light turns red, it's time to replace the filter.
  2. Power off the unit.
  3. Remove the top cover.
  4. Unlock the filter by twisting it counter-clockwise and lift it out.
  5. Insert the new filter (Model: ADD554) and twist clockwise to lock it in place.
  6. Replace the top cover.
  7. Power on the unit and perform a short flush cycle as described in Section 2.3.

5.2 Descaling the Water Dispenser

If you experience slow water flow, it may be time to descale the dispenser. Follow these steps for effective descaling:

5.3 Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and hygiene.

  • Water Reservoir: The detachable reservoir can be easily removed and cleaned with mild soap and water.
  • Glass Bottle: The included glass bottle is dishwasher safe.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the dispenser with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

6. Troubleshooting

Refer to the following table for common issues and their solutions:
