3. Safety Information

Your VINZ Shuto helmet is ECE 22.06 homologated, signifying its compliance with European safety standards. However, no helmet can protect against all foreseeable impacts. For maximum protection, always ensure:

  • Correct Fit: The helmet must fit snugly and comfortably.
  • Secure Fastening: The chin strap must always be securely fastened.
  • No Modifications: Never modify the helmet's structure, including drilling holes or applying paint/solvents, as this can compromise its integrity.
  • Impact Damage: A helmet that has sustained an impact, even if it appears undamaged, should be replaced immediately. Its protective capacity may be compromised.
  • Visibility: Ensure visors are clean and free from obstructions. Use the sun visor appropriately for light conditions.

WARNING: Always wear appropriate protective gear when riding, including gloves, jacket, and trousers, in addition to your helmet.

4. Setup and Fitting

4.1 Choosing the Correct Size

A helmet must fit correctly to provide optimal protection. To determine your size, measure the circumference of your head approximately 2.5 cm (1 inch) above your eyebrows. Refer to the size chart below:

VINZ Shuto Helmet Size Guide showing head circumference measurements for XS to XXL sizes.

Image: VINZ Shuto Helmet Size Guide. This image illustrates how to measure head circumference and provides corresponding helmet sizes from XS (53/54 cm) to XXL (61 cm).

  • XS: 53-54 cm
  • S: 55-56 cm
  • M: 57-58 cm
  • L: 59 cm
  • XL: 60 cm
  • XXL: 61 cm

A properly fitted helmet should feel snug around your head and cheeks without causing uncomfortable pressure points. It should not move freely when you shake your head.

4.2 Fastening the Chin Strap

The VINZ Shuto helmet features a quick-release ratchet closure system. To fasten:

  1. Insert the notched strap into the buckle until it clicks securely.
  2. Pull the strap to ensure it is tight enough that the helmet cannot be rolled off your head.
  3. To release, pull the red tab on the buckle.

4.3 Attaching/Detaching the Chin Bar

The VINZ Shuto helmet features a removable chin bar, allowing it to be used as a streetfighter-style helmet or a more open jet helmet. To attach or detach the chin bar, locate the release mechanisms on both sides of the helmet near the visor pivots. Follow the specific instructions provided with your helmet for safe removal and attachment.

5. Operating the Helmet Features

5.1 Main Visor Operation

The main visor is scratch-resistant and provides clear vision. It can be easily raised and lowered using the tab located on the bottom edge. Ensure the visor is fully closed when riding to protect against wind, debris, and insects.

5.2 Integrated Sun Visor

The helmet includes an integrated sun visor to protect your eyes from intense sunlight and glare. This visor operates independently of the main visor. Use the lever located on the side of the helmet to deploy or retract the sun visor. Only use the sun visor during daylight hours and retract it in low-light conditions or at night for optimal visibility.

5.3 Ventilation System

The VINZ Shuto helmet features an effective ventilation system with strategically placed air inlets and outlets. These vents promote optimal air circulation and cooling during your ride. Adjust the sliders on the vents to control airflow according to your comfort and weather conditions.

6. Maintenance and Care

6.1 Cleaning the Helmet Shell

Clean the helmet shell with a soft cloth, warm water, and mild soap. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the helmet's finish and material integrity. Rinse thoroughly and air dry.

6.2 Cleaning the Visors

The visors should be cleaned with warm water and a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a specialized helmet visor cleaner. Do not use abrasive materials or paper towels, which can scratch the visor surface. Allow to air dry completely before reattaching.

6.3 Cleaning the Interior Lining

The VINZ Shuto helmet features a removable and washable interior lining. Carefully detach the lining components according to the instructions provided with your helmet. Hand wash the lining in cold water with mild soap. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before reinserting into the helmet. Ensure the lining is fully dry to prevent mildew and odors.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Visor Fogging: Ensure proper ventilation by opening the helmet vents. Anti-fog treatments or inserts can also be used.
  • Loose Chin Strap: Re-adjust the quick-release buckle to ensure a snug fit. If the mechanism is damaged, discontinue use and seek professional inspection.
  • Uncomfortable Fit: Re-check your head measurement against the size chart. If the helmet is too tight or too loose, it may be the wrong size.
  • Excessive Noise: Ensure all visors are fully closed and the chin bar (if attached) is securely in place. Check for any gaps or loose components.
