1. Product Overview

The VTech VG231-2 DECT 6.0 2-Handset Cordless Phone system is designed for ease of use and reliable communication. It features a large, backlit display and big buttons for enhanced visibility and accessibility. With DECT 6.0 technology, it provides clear, interference-free sound and extended range. 2. What's in the Box

3. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your VTech cordless phone system:

3.1 Connecting the Base Unit

  1. Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the TEL. LINE jack on the back of the base unit.
  2. Plug the other end of the telephone line cord into a telephone wall jack.
  3. Plug one end of an AC adapter into the POWER jack on the back of the base unit.
  4. Plug the other end of the AC adapter into a wall outlet not controlled by a wall switch.

3.2 Installing Handset Batteries

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of each handset.
  2. Connect the battery pack plug securely into the jack inside the compartment.
  3. Place the battery pack with the label UP and tuck the wires neatly inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover.

3.3 Charging Handsets

  1. Place each handset face forward in the base unit or handset charger.
  2. The CHARGE light on the handset will turn on, indicating proper charging.
  3. Allow the handsets to charge for at least 16 hours before initial use.

4. Operating Your Phone

4.1 Making and Receiving Calls

  • To Make a Call: Press TALK/FLASH or SPEAKER, then dial the number.
  • To Receive a Call: When the phone rings, press TALK/FLASH or SPEAKER.
  • To End a Call: Press OFF/CANCEL or place the handset back in the charger.

4.2 Full Duplex Speakerphone

The full duplex speakerphone allows for natural, two-way conversations without interruption. To activate, press the SPEAKER button during a call.

4.3 Caller ID and Call Waiting

The phone stores up to 50 caller ID entries. When a call comes in, the caller's name and number (if available) will be displayed on the large, backlit screen.

4.4 Last 10 Number Redial

Quickly redial any of the last 10 numbers called. Press the REDIAL/PAUSE button to view the list, then press TALK/FLASH to redial.

4.5 Quiet Mode

Silence the ringer on the handset and base unit for a specified period. This is useful for uninterrupted sleep or quiet times. Access this feature through the phone's menu or by pressing the #QUIET button.

4.6 Phonebook

Store up to 50 names and numbers in the phonebook for quick dialing. Navigate the phonebook using the MENU/SELECT button and arrow keys.

4.7 Intercom Between Handsets

Use the intercom feature to communicate between the two handsets. Press the INT button to initiate an intercom call.
