1. Introduction
The CONTEC ABPM50 is a handheld ambulatory blood pressure monitor designed for continuous and dynamic blood pressure monitoring over a 24-hour period. Utilizing oscillography theory, this device provides an accurate basis for diagnosis by recording up to 350 groups of NIBP data in automatic mode and up to 300 groups in manual mode. Its compact and portable design, combined with a user-friendly interface and a high-definition color TFT display, ensures strong visibility and ease of use. The ABPM50 supports communication with a PC for data review, analysis, trend graph visualization, and report printing, making it a comprehensive tool for health monitoring.

3. Initial Setup
3.1 Powering the Device
The ABPM50 is powered via a corded electric connection, typically through a USB cable for charging its internal battery. Connect the provided USB cable to the device and a suitable power source (e.g., a computer USB port or a USB wall adapter). Ensure the device is fully charged before initial use for optimal performance, especially for 24-hour monitoring.
3.2 Attaching the Blood Pressure Cuff
Connect the air tube from the blood pressure cuff securely to the air port on the side of the ABPM50 main unit. Ensure the connection is firm to prevent air leakage during measurement. The cuff is designed for adult, pediatric, and neonate use, with the included cuff being suitable for adults. Proper cuff placement is crucial for accurate readings. Position the cuff on the upper arm, ensuring the artery marker aligns with the brachial artery. The cuff should be snug but not overly tight, allowing two fingers to fit underneath.
4. Operating Instructions

4.2 Measurement Modes
The ABPM50 supports both automatic 24-hour monitoring and manual single measurements.
- Automatic (24-hour) Monitoring: This mode allows for continuous blood pressure recording over a 24-hour period. The device can record up to 350 groups of NIBP data. Before starting, ensure the device is fully charged and the cuff is correctly positioned. Configure the measurement intervals through the device's menu or via the PC software. Press the Start/Stop button to begin the 24-hour monitoring session.
- Manual Measurement: For a single, on-demand blood pressure reading, ensure the cuff is properly applied. Press the Start/Stop button to initiate a measurement. The device will inflate the cuff, take the reading, and display the results. Up to 300 groups of data can be recorded manually.
During measurement, remain still and avoid talking for accurate results. The device will automatically deflate the cuff once the measurement is complete.
