Setup
1. Placement
The placement of your subwoofer significantly impacts its performance. Experiment with different locations to find the best sound for your room.
- Corner Placement: Placing the subwoofer in a corner often maximizes its output, providing the most bass.
- Wall Placement: Placing the subwoofer along a wall can also provide good bass reinforcement.
- Near Front Speakers: For seamless integration with your main speakers, consider placing the subwoofer between or near your front left and right speakers.
- Avoid Enclosures: Do not place the subwoofer inside a cabinet or enclosed space, as this can negatively affect sound quality and ventilation.

2. Connections
The JBL Stage 2 200P connects to your audio system via a wired connection, typically using the Line-Level LFE input.
- Power Off All Equipment: Before making any connections, ensure your receiver/amplifier and the subwoofer are turned off and unplugged from the power outlet.
- Connect LFE Input: Use a single RCA cable to connect the LFE output (or Subwoofer Pre-Out) on your receiver/amplifier to the "SUBWOOFER INPUT" (LFE) on the JBL Stage 2 200P.
- Power Connection: Connect the supplied power cord to the subwoofer's AC input and then to a wall outlet.

3. Initial Configuration
After connecting, you will need to adjust the subwoofer's settings for optimal performance with your system.
- Power Mode Switch: Set the "POWER MODE" switch to "AUTO" for automatic power on/off, or "ON" for continuous operation. "RED: STANDBY" indicates standby mode.
- Crossover: Adjust the "CROSSOVER" knob to blend the subwoofer's bass with your main speakers. A common starting point is 80Hz. If your main speakers are small, you might set it higher (e.g., 100-120Hz). If they are large, you might set it lower (e.g., 60Hz).
- Volume: Adjust the "VOLUME" knob to match the output level of your main speakers. Start low and gradually increase until the bass sounds balanced, not overpowering.
- Phase: The "PHASE" switch (0°/180°) helps ensure the subwoofer's sound waves are in sync with your main speakers. Listen to music with strong bass and flip the switch. Use the setting that provides the most impactful and coherent bass.

Operating the Subwoofer
Once configured, your JBL Stage 2 200P subwoofer operates in conjunction with your audio system.
- Power On/Off: If the "POWER MODE" switch is set to "AUTO", the subwoofer will automatically turn on when it detects an audio signal and enter standby mode after a period of inactivity. If set to "ON", it will remain powered on.
- Fine-Tuning: After initial setup, you may wish to fine-tune the Crossover, Volume, and Phase settings based on your listening preferences and the specific content (music vs. movies).
- Volume Control: The subwoofer's volume should primarily be controlled via your receiver/amplifier's master volume. The subwoofer's "VOLUME" knob is for initial level matching.
