Setup
1. Battery Installation
The SK-8201 requires two 1.5V AAA batteries (not included). Follow these steps to install them:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
- Slide open the battery cover.
- Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery cover securely.
2. Initial Power On
Press the power button (⑂) located at the bottom left of the device to turn it on. The display will illuminate, showing current readings.

- Sensor Head: Located at the top, this is the light-sensitive component. Ensure it is clean and unobstructed for accurate readings.
- Illumination Display Area: Shows the current illuminance in LUX or FC.
- Color Temperature Display Area: Shows the current color temperature in Kelvin (K).
- Power Button (⑂): Turns the device on/off.
- HOLD/UNIT Button: Press once to hold the current reading. Press and hold to switch between LUX and FC units.
2. Taking Measurements
- Turn on the device by pressing the power button.
- Position the sensor head towards the light source you wish to measure. Ensure no shadows or obstructions are cast on the sensor.
- The device will automatically display the illuminance (LUX/FC) and color temperature (K) readings.
- To hold the current reading on the display, press the HOLD/UNIT button once. Press it again to release the hold and resume live readings.
- To switch between LUX and FC units, press and hold the HOLD/UNIT button until the unit changes on the display.

3. Automatic Shutdown
The device features an automatic shutdown function to conserve battery life. If no button is pressed for a certain period (typically 15 minutes), the device will automatically power off. Press the power button to turn it back on.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the sensor head is free of dust and smudges.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display to ensure accurate readings.
- Avoid Impact: Handle the device with care to prevent damage from drops or impacts.
