5. Setup & Installation

  1. Prepare Your System:
    • Ensure your computer is completely powered off and unplugged from the wall outlet.
    • Open your computer case to access the power supply mounting area.
  2. Remove Old Power Supply (if applicable):
    • Disconnect all cables from your old power supply to the motherboard, graphics card, and other components.
    • Unscrew and remove the old power supply from the case.
  3. Install New Power Supply:
    • Carefully place the darkFlash PMT850 into the power supply bay of your computer case.
    • Secure the power supply with the provided mounting screws.
  4. Connect Modular Cables:
    • Identify the necessary cables for your motherboard (24-pin ATX, 8-pin CPU), graphics card (12VHPWR or 6+2 pin PCIe), and storage devices (SATA, PATA).
    • Connect these cables to the corresponding ports on the power supply unit. The fully modular design allows you to connect only the cables you need.
    • Route the cables neatly within your case for optimal airflow and aesthetics.
    • Connect the other end of the cables to your motherboard, graphics card, and other components. Ensure all connections are firm.
  5. Final Checks:
    • Double-check all cable connections to ensure they are properly seated.
    • Close your computer case.
    • Connect the AC power cord to the power supply and then to a wall outlet.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the power supply and its fan grille to prevent dust buildup. Use a soft, dry cloth or compressed air. Ensure the power supply is unplugged before cleaning.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the power supply's ventilation openings are not obstructed. Proper airflow is crucial for efficient cooling and longevity.
  • Cable Management: Regularly check cable connections to ensure they remain secure.

Do not attempt to open the power supply unit for internal cleaning or repair. This will void the warranty and poses a risk of electric shock.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Computer does not power on.
  • Power supply switch is OFF.
  • AC power cord is loose or disconnected.
  • Loose cable connections inside the PC.
  • Faulty power supply.
  • Ensure power supply switch is ON (I).
  • Check AC power cord connection to PSU and wall outlet.
  • Verify all modular cables are securely connected to the PSU and components.
  • Test with another known good power supply if possible.
System crashes or reboots unexpectedly.
  • Insufficient power delivery.
  • Overheating.
  • Faulty components.
  • Ensure your system's power requirements do not exceed the PSU's capacity.
  • Check for proper ventilation and dust buildup.
  • Consult other component manuals for troubleshooting.
Loud fan noise from PSU.
  • Dust buildup in fan.
  • High system load causing increased fan speed.
  • Clean the fan grille with compressed air (power off and unplugged).
  • This is normal behavior under heavy load due to the intelligent fan control.
