The PRW-6900 Series is equipped with a CORDURA re/cor™ band, a stainless steel and bio-based resin case, and an octagonal metal bezel. Key features include a digital compass, altimeter, barometer, thermometer, World Time, countdown timer, stopwatch, and 5 daily alarms. Its 100-meter water resistance makes it suitable for various outdoor activities.

2. Initial Setup

2.1 Charging the Watch (Tough Solar)

Your Casio PRW-6900 watch is powered by Tough Solar technology, converting light into energy. To ensure optimal performance, expose the watch face to light regularly.

  • Upon initial use or after prolonged storage in darkness, place the watch in a brightly lit area (e.g., near a window) for several hours.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to extremely high temperatures during charging.
  • A full charge can provide up to 6 months of operation, or up to 25 months in power-saving mode.

2.2 Time Calibration (Multi-Band 6)

The Multi-Band 6 feature automatically calibrates the watch's time using atomic radio signals from six global transmission stations. This ensures accurate timekeeping.

  1. Ensure the watch is in an area where it can receive radio signals (e.g., near a window, away from electronic interference).
  2. The watch will attempt to receive calibration signals automatically overnight.
  3. To manually initiate signal reception, refer to the detailed instructions in the full Casio module manual (available on the Casio website).
  4. Verify the home city setting is correct for proper signal reception.

3. Operating Instructions

This section outlines the basic operation of the Casio PRW-6900's key features.

3.1 Basic Timekeeping Mode

In the Timekeeping Mode, the watch displays the current time, day, and date. The analog hands show the current time, while the digital display provides additional information.

  • Press the MODE button to cycle through different modes.
  • The digital display can show various data depending on the selected sub-mode.

3.2 Triple Sensor Functions (Altimeter, Barometer, Thermometer, Compass)

The Triple Sensor technology provides real-time environmental data crucial for outdoor activities.

  • Altimeter: Measures relative altitude based on atmospheric pressure. Press the ALTI button to activate.
  • Barometer: Displays atmospheric pressure and pressure tendency. Press the BARO button to activate.
  • Thermometer: Measures ambient temperature. Ensure the watch is off your wrist for accurate readings, as body heat can affect results. This function is typically integrated with the barometer.
  • Digital Compass: Indicates magnetic north. Press the COMP button to activate. Hold the watch level during measurement.

Note: For precise sensor readings, especially for the altimeter and barometer, regular calibration based on known values (e.g., local weather station pressure, known altitude) is recommended.

3.3 World Time

The World Time mode allows you to view the current time in 29 time zones and 48 cities globally.

  • Enter World Time mode using the MODE button.
  • Use the adjustment buttons (refer to the full manual for specific button assignments) to scroll through city codes.

3.4 Alarms

The watch features 5 daily alarms and an hourly time signal.

  • Navigate to the Alarm mode.
  • Select an alarm number and set the desired time.
  • Alarms will sound for 10 seconds when the set time is reached.

3.5 Stopwatch and Countdown Timer

These functions are useful for timing events and activities.

  • Stopwatch: Measures elapsed time with 1/100-second accuracy.
  • Countdown Timer: Counts down from a specified time, up to 24 hours.

3.6 Super Illuminator LED Light

The double LED backlight ensures clear visibility in low-light conditions.

  • Press the light button (usually located on the top right or bottom left) to activate the Super Illuminator.
  • The illumination duration can typically be adjusted in the watch settings.

4. Maintenance and Care

4.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the watch case and band with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stubborn dirt, use a soft cloth dampened with water and a mild neutral detergent, then wipe dry.
  • Avoid using volatile agents like thinner, gasoline, or alcohol, as they may damage the watch.
  • The CORDURA band can be gently cleaned with a damp cloth.

4.2 Water Resistance

The watch is water resistant up to 100 meters (10 BAR). This means it is suitable for swimming and snorkeling, but not for scuba diving.

  • Do not operate buttons while the watch is wet or submerged.
  • After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and wipe it dry.

4.3 Battery Life and Charging

To maintain optimal battery performance, ensure the watch receives regular light exposure. Avoid prolonged storage in dark places.

  • If the battery level is low, the watch may enter power-saving mode or some functions may be disabled.
  • Refer to the full manual for detailed information on battery level indicators and charging guidelines.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Watch not displaying correct time: Check if the Multi-Band 6 signal reception is successful. Ensure the home city setting is correct. Manually adjust time if necessary (refer to full manual).
  • Digital display is blank or dim: The watch may be in power-saving mode due to low battery. Expose the watch to light for charging.
  • Sensor readings are inaccurate: Calibrate the altimeter/barometer with known values. Ensure the thermometer is measuring ambient temperature, not body temperature. For compass, ensure the watch is level and away from magnetic interference.
  • Buttons are unresponsive: Ensure the watch is not in a locked mode. If submerged, ensure it is dry before operating buttons.
