4. Setup
To prepare your Wireless 2.0 Controller for use, follow these steps:
- Battery Installation: Locate the battery compartment on the controller. Insert one (1) AAA 1.5-V battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment. The Wireless 2.0 system is designed to work with standard or rechargeable AAA batteries.
- Receiver Connection: Ensure your Carrera Digital Control Unit has a Wireless 2.0 receiver (Carrera Part No. 20010122) connected. The controller communicates wirelessly with this receiver.
- Pairing (if necessary): The controller should automatically pair with the Wireless 2.0 receiver when both are powered on. If connection issues occur, refer to the troubleshooting section or the main Carrera Digital system manual for specific pairing instructions.
5. Operating Instructions
Once the controller is set up and connected to your Carrera Digital system, you can begin racing:
- Power On: Ensure your Carrera Digital race track system is powered on.
- Vehicle Assignment: Assign your desired vehicle to the controller's address using the Carrera Digital Control Unit. Refer to your Carrera Digital system manual for detailed instructions on vehicle assignment.
- Control: Use the plunger to control the speed of your slot car. Push the plunger forward to accelerate. Release or pull back slightly to reduce speed.
- Lane Changing: The button on the side of the controller is typically used for lane changes on digital tracks. Press the button to initiate a lane change at designated track sections.
- Freedom of Movement: The 2.4-GHz radio technology allows you to move freely around the track within a 15-meter range without signal interruption.
6. Compatibility
Understanding the compatibility of your Wireless 2.0 Controller with other Carrera wireless systems is crucial:
- Wireless 2.0 hand-held controllers are exclusively designed to operate with a Wireless 2.0 receiver (Carrera Part No. 20010122).
- Previous Wireless+ hand-held controllers (2.4-GHz Wireless+ system) only work with Wireless+ receivers (Carrera Part No. 20010112).
- Parallel Operation: It is possible to operate both Wireless 2.0 and Wireless+ systems simultaneously on the same Carrera Digital track. To do this, both a Wireless 2.0 receiver (20010122) and a Wireless+ receiver (20010112) must be connected to the Carrera Digital Control Unit.
- Important Note: When operating both systems in parallel, ensure that the addresses of the vehicles are not assigned twice to avoid conflicts.
7. Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life of your controller:
- Cleaning: Wipe the controller with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the controller in a dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Removal: If the controller will not be used for an extended period, remove the AAA battery to prevent leakage and corrosion.
- Avoid Drops: Protect the controller from impacts and drops, as internal components can be damaged.
