Adjusting Eyecups
The Bushnell Legend 10x50 Binoculars feature twist-up eyecups for comfortable viewing.

Focusing the Binoculars

Image: Detail of the central focus knob on the Bushnell Legend 10x50 Binoculars.
- Interpupillary Distance Adjustment: Hold the binoculars up to your eyes and look through them. Adjust the distance between the two barrels by moving them closer or further apart until you see a single, circular field of view.
- Central Focus: Close your right eye and look through the left barrel with your left eye. Rotate the central focus knob until the image is sharp.
- Diopter Adjustment: Close your left eye and look through the right barrel with your right eye. Rotate the diopter ring (on the right eyepiece) until the image is sharp. Note the diopter setting for future reference.
- Final Focus: With both eyes open, use the central focus knob to fine-tune the focus for any distance. The diopter setting should only need adjustment if your vision changes or if another user adjusts it.
The ultra-smooth focus wheel allows for quick and precise focusing on your subject.
Maintenance and Care
Cleaning the Lenses
Use the included microfiber cleaning cloth to gently wipe away dust or smudges from the lenses. For stubborn marks, a small amount of lens cleaning fluid designed for optics can be applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens.
- Always remove loose dust particles before wiping to prevent scratching.
- Avoid using abrasive cloths, paper towels, or harsh chemicals.
Waterproof Construction
These binoculars feature IPX7 waterproof construction, meaning they can withstand submersion in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes without penetration. The Rainguard lens protection further enhances their resistance to moisture. While waterproof, it is recommended to dry the binoculars thoroughly after exposure to water to prevent water spots and maintain optimal performance.
Storage
Store your binoculars in a cool, dry place when not in use. Keep them in their protective case or with lens caps on to prevent dust accumulation and accidental damage.
Troubleshooting
- Blurred Image:
- Ensure the central focus knob is adjusted correctly.
- Verify the diopter setting for your right eye.
- Check that eyecups are set appropriately for your use (up for non-eyeglass wearers, down for eyeglass wearers).
- Double Image:
- Adjust the interpupillary distance (distance between the barrels) until a single, circular field of view is achieved.
- Difficulty Focusing in Low Light:
- These binoculars feature fully multi-coated optics for enhanced light transmission, but extreme low-light conditions may still limit visibility.
