1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, configuration, and operation of the Grandstream HT841 4 FXO 1 FXS 2 GIGE POE NAT Router. The HT841 is designed to provide advanced routing capabilities with integrated telephony features, including 4 FXO ports for connecting to analog telephone lines, 1 FXS port for connecting an analog phone or fax machine, and 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support. It also features NAT routing for network address translation.

2. Safety Information

4. Physical Description

4.1 Front Panel

The front panel features LED indicators for power, network activity, and FXO/FXS port status. These LEDs provide a quick visual status of the device's operation.

4.2 Rear Panel

The rear panel contains all connectivity ports:

  • Power Input: DC 12V power jack.
  • WAN Port: Gigabit Ethernet port for connecting to the internet/modem.
  • LAN Port: Gigabit Ethernet port with PoE support for connecting to local network devices.

5. Setup

5.1 Connecting the Device

  1. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the WAN port of the HT841 and the other end to your modem or internet source.
  2. Connect another Ethernet cable from the LAN port of the HT841 to your computer or a network switch.
  3. Connect your analog telephone lines to the FXO ports (RJ11).
  4. Connect an analog phone or fax machine to the FXS port (RJ11).
  5. Connect the power adapter to the Power Input jack and then plug it into a power outlet.
  6. Wait for the device to boot up. The LED indicators on the front panel will illuminate.

5.2 Initial Configuration

To access the web configuration interface:

  1. Ensure your computer is connected to the HT841's LAN port.
  2. Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (usually http://192.168.2.1 or http://192.168.0.1). Refer to the Quick Installation Guide for the exact default IP.
  3. Enter the default username (admin) and password (admin).
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to configure basic network settings, SIP accounts, and FXO/FXS port parameters.

6. Operating the Device

6.1 Basic Call Functions

Once configured, the HT841 facilitates calls through connected analog phones and PSTN lines.

  • Making Calls: Pick up the connected analog phone, wait for a dial tone, and dial the desired number.
  • Receiving Calls: The connected analog phone will ring for incoming calls. Pick up the handset to answer.

6.2 Network Routing

The HT841 functions as a NAT router, providing internet access to devices connected to its LAN port. It supports standard routing protocols and firewall features configurable via the web interface.

6.3 PoE Functionality

The LAN port supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), allowing it to power compatible devices such as IP phones or access points directly through the Ethernet cable, reducing cable clutter.

7. Maintenance

  • Firmware Updates: Regularly check the Grandstream website for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security. Updates can be applied via the web configuration interface.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Backup Configuration: Periodically back up your device configuration settings through the web interface to facilitate quick restoration if needed.
  • Restarting: If the device experiences issues, try restarting it by unplugging the power adapter, waiting 10 seconds, and then plugging it back in.

8. Troubleshooting
