3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully remove the mixer from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. Retain the original packaging for future transport or storage.

3.2 Power Connection

Connect the supplied AC power cable to the mixer's power input on the rear panel. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting to a power outlet. Use a grounded power outlet to prevent electrical hazards.

3.3 Audio Connections

Connect your microphones, instruments, and other audio sources to the appropriate input jacks (XLR/TRS combo jacks) on the rear panel. Connect your main outputs to your power amplifiers or powered speakers using XLR cables. Utilize the auxiliary outputs for monitor mixes or external effects processors.

3.4 USB Audio Interface Connection

For recording or playback with a computer, connect a USB cable from the WING Compact's USB port to your computer. Install the necessary drivers if prompted by your operating system or audio software.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

To power on, ensure all connections are secure, then flip the power switch to the ON position. Allow the system to boot up completely. To power off, reverse this process, ensuring all audio is muted or faded out before switching off.

4.2 Touchscreen Navigation

The 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen is the primary interface for controlling the mixer. Tap icons and menus to access various functions such as channel settings, effects, routing, and system utilities. Swipe gestures may be used for navigation in certain contexts.

4.3 Channel Control

Each channel strip features a motorized fader, select button, and solo button. Use the faders to adjust channel levels. Press the SELECT button to bring the channel's parameters to the touchscreen for detailed editing (EQ, dynamics, effects sends). The SOLO button allows for isolated monitoring of a channel.

4.4 Effects Processing

The WING Compact includes 16 stereo digital FX processors. Access these through the touchscreen to apply reverbs, delays, modulation effects, and more to your channels or mixes. Effects can be inserted directly on channels or sent via auxiliary sends.

4.5 Routing and Outputs

Configure audio routing via the touchscreen's routing section. Assign inputs to channels, and channels to various outputs, including main stereo outputs, auxiliary outputs, and matrix outputs. The dedicated Bus/Main/DCA section provides quick access to these critical mix elements.

4.6 Recording to SD Cards

The mixer supports direct recording of up to 64 channels to dual SD cards. Insert formatted SD cards into the designated slots and use the recording interface on the touchscreen to initiate and manage recordings.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean the exterior of the mixer with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes, as these can damage the finish and electronic components. Keep the touchscreen clean using a microfiber cloth designed for electronic displays.

5.2 Ventilation

Ensure that the ventilation openings on the mixer are not obstructed. Proper airflow is crucial for preventing overheating and maintaining optimal performance. Do not operate the mixer in enclosed spaces without adequate ventilation.

5.3 Firmware Updates

Periodically check the Behringer website for firmware updates. Keeping your mixer's firmware up-to-date ensures access to the latest features, bug fixes, and performance enhancements. Follow the instructions provided with the firmware update carefully.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 No Power

  • Check if the power cable is securely connected to both the mixer and the power outlet.
  • Verify that the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
  • Ensure the power switch on the mixer is in the ON position.
