3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the rear of the meter.
  2. Use a screwdriver to open the battery compartment.
  3. Insert two R03 (AAA) 1.5V batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.

3.2 Initial Power-On

After battery installation, turn the rotary switch from the 'OFF' position to any measurement function to power on the device. The display will illuminate, indicating it is ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Measuring Leakage Current

  1. Set the rotary switch to the desired current range (e.g., 400mA, 4A, 100A).
  2. Open the clamp jaws by pressing the jaw release lever.
  3. Enclose the conductor (cable) within the clamp jaws. Ensure the jaws are fully closed around the conductor. For leakage current, typically all live and neutral conductors of a circuit are clamped together.
  4. Read the current value displayed on the LCD screen.

4.2 Using the Frequency Selector Switch

The KEW 2434 features a frequency selector switch to minimize the impact of harmonics on your measurements. Select the appropriate frequency range (e.g., 50/60Hz or WIDE 40-400Hz) based on the circuit being tested to ensure accurate True RMS readings.

4.3 Data Hold Function

Press the 'DATA HOLD' button to freeze the current reading on the display. This is useful when taking measurements in hard-to-reach areas or when you need to record a stable value. Press the button again to release the hold and resume live readings.
