Initial Recognition and Formatting
Upon first connection, your operating system should automatically detect the SSK SD450. If prompted, you may need to format the drive to a file system compatible with your operating system (e.g., NTFS for Windows, APFS/HFS+ for macOS, exFAT for cross-platform compatibility). Refer to your operating system's documentation for specific formatting instructions.
Note on Capacity Display: The displayed capacity of the 512GB SSD may appear as approximately 465GB on Windows, while macOS typically shows the full 512GB. This difference is due to varying algorithms in how 1GB is calculated (1024MB on Windows vs. 1000MB on SSDs).
Operating Instructions
Data Transfer
To transfer files, simply drag and drop them to or from the SSK SD450 drive icon on your computer or use the file management application on your mobile device. The USB 3.2 Gen2 interface supports data transfer speeds up to 550MB/s, allowing for quick and efficient file management.

Maintenance
S.M.A.R.T. Monitoring and TRIM Support
The SSK SD450 supports S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) to monitor the drive's health and potential issues. TRIM technology ensures consistent write speeds and extends the lifespan of the SSD by efficiently managing data blocks. Ensure your operating system has TRIM enabled for optimal performance.

Auto Sleep Function
The SSK SD450 is equipped with an auto-sleep function that activates after 20 minutes of inactivity, conserving power and extending the drive's lifespan.
Safe Removal
Always safely eject or unmount the SSD from your operating system before physically disconnecting it to prevent data corruption.
Troubleshooting
- SSD Not Recognized:
- Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the SSD and the host device.
- Try using a different USB port on your device.
- Test with a different USB cable, as some user experiences indicate that the provided cable may occasionally be faulty.
- Check your device's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) to see if the drive is detected but unformatted. Format if necessary.
- Restart your computer or mobile device.
- Slow Transfer Speeds:
- Ensure you are connected to a USB 3.2 Gen2 port (or higher) on your host device for optimal performance. Older USB 2.0 ports will result in significantly slower speeds.
- Verify that your operating system has TRIM enabled.
- Close any unnecessary applications running in the background that might be consuming system resources.
- Large file transfers may experience initial high speeds due to SLC caching, then stabilize. This is normal behavior.
- Overheating:
- While the aluminum casing is designed for efficient heat dissipation, ensure the drive is in a well-ventilated area during extended use.
- Avoid placing the drive on soft surfaces that might block airflow.
