3. Setup and Installation
Installation of the KAFF PRESTON PRS 783 Built-in Hob should only be carried out by a qualified and authorized technician. Incorrect installation can lead to gas leaks, electric shock, or fire hazards.
Pre-Installation Checks:
- Verify that the gas supply type (LPG/Natural Gas) matches the appliance specifications.
- Ensure the electrical supply meets the voltage requirements (230 Volts).
- Confirm adequate ventilation in the kitchen area.
Countertop Preparation:
The countertop must be cut to the specified dimensions to properly accommodate the hob.
- Inner Cutting Size (L x W): 705 mm x 400 mm
- Outer Size (L x W x H): 780 mm x 450 mm x 145 mm

Gas Connection:
- Connect the hob to the gas supply using a certified flexible hose or rigid pipe.
- Ensure all connections are leak-tested using a soapy water solution. Never use an open flame to check for leaks.
Electrical Connection:
- Plug the appliance into a properly grounded electrical outlet.
- Ensure the power cord is not pinched or damaged during installation.
4. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to safely operate your KAFF PRESTON PRS 783 Built-in Hob.
Lighting a Burner:
- Place your cookware centrally on the pan support over the desired burner.
- Push down and turn the corresponding metal knob counter-clockwise to the 'High Flame' position. You will hear a clicking sound as the auto electric ignition sparks.
- Hold the knob down for a few seconds after the flame ignites. This allows the flame failure device sensor to heat up and keep the gas flowing.
- Release the knob. If the flame goes out, repeat the process.
- Adjust the flame size by turning the knob between the 'High Flame' and 'Low Flame' positions.
Using the Digital Timer:
The digital timer allows you to set a cooking duration, after which the hob will automatically turn off the flame.
- With a burner lit, press the timer button (refer to the hob's control panel for exact button).
- Use the '+' and '-' buttons to set the desired cooking time.
- The timer will start counting down. Once the time expires, the gas supply to the selected burner will be cut off, and the flame will extinguish.
- An audible alert may sound to indicate the timer has finished.
Turning Off a Burner:
To turn off a burner, simply turn the corresponding knob clockwise to the 'OFF' position. Ensure the flame is completely extinguished.
5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your hob.
General Cleaning:
- Always ensure the hob is cool before cleaning.
- Disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply before cleaning.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals as they can damage the glass surface and other components.
Glass Top:
- Wipe the tempered glass surface with a soft cloth dampened with warm soapy water.
- For stubborn stains, use a non-abrasive glass cleaner specifically designed for hob tops.
- Dry thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth to prevent water spots.
Burners and Pan Supports:
- Remove the cast iron pan supports and brass burner components (burner caps, flame spreaders) when cool.
- Wash these components in warm soapy water. For heavy grease or burnt-on food, soak them for a while.
- Use a soft brush or sponge to clean. Ensure all gas ports on the burner are clear and free from debris.
- Dry all components completely before reassembling them. Moisture can affect ignition.
Control Knobs:
- The metal knobs can be gently pulled off for cleaning.
