3.3. Physical Installation
The sensor consists of two parts: the main sensor unit and a smaller magnetic contact. These two parts must be installed close to each other (within 10mm) on a door, window, or other movable object and its frame.
- Choose a Location: Identify a suitable flat surface on your door/window and its frame where the two sensor parts can be aligned when the door/window is closed. Ensure the notch side of both parts faces each other.
- Clean the Surface: Wipe the installation area clean and dry to ensure proper adhesion.
- Apply Adhesive: Peel the protective paper from the back of the 3M adhesive pads and attach them to the back of both the main sensor unit and the magnetic contact.
- Mount the Sensor:
- Attach the main sensor unit to the fixed frame of the door/window.
- Attach the magnetic contact to the movable part of the door/window, aligning it with the main sensor unit. Ensure the gap between the two parts is less than 10mm when the door/window is closed.
- Optional Screw Mounting: For a more secure installation, you can use the provided screws instead of or in addition to the adhesive pads. Mark the screw holes, drill pilot holes if necessary, and secure the sensor parts.
- Test Installation: Open and close the door/window to verify that the sensor registers the change in status in the app.

Once installed and connected, the sensor will continuously monitor the open/closed status of your door or window. You will receive instant notifications on your smartphone via the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app whenever the sensor is triggered (i.e., the door/window opens or closes).
- App Notifications: Receive push notifications directly to your phone.
- Activity Log: The app maintains a history log of all open/close events, including timestamps, allowing you to review activity at any time.
- Optional SMS/Phone Call Alerts: The Tuya/Smart Life app offers optional SMS and phone call notifications for an additional fee. This provides an alternative alert method if desired.
