Safety Instructions
WARNING: Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
General Power Tool Safety
- Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves.
- Secure the workpiece. Use clamps or a vise to hold the workpiece. This is safer than using your hand and it frees both hands to operate the tool.
Battery Tool Use and Care
- Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
- Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
- When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
- Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.

Setup
1. Charging the Battery
- Connect the LC 40 charger to a suitable power outlet.
- Slide a 12V LiPOWER battery pack onto the charger until it clicks into place.
- The charging indicator light on the charger will illuminate, indicating charging is in progress.
- Once fully charged, the indicator light will change (refer to charger manual for specific light patterns). Remove the battery from the charger.
2. Inserting the Battery Pack
- Align the battery pack with the receptacle at the base of the drill handle.
- Slide the battery pack firmly into the drill until it clicks securely into place. Ensure it is fully seated to prevent accidental dislodgement during operation.
3. Attaching/Changing Drill Bits or Screwdriver Bits
- To open the chuck, rotate the chuck collar counter-clockwise until the jaws are wide enough to insert the bit.
- Insert the desired drill bit or screwdriver bit into the chuck. Ensure the bit is inserted as far as possible.
- Rotate the chuck collar clockwise to tighten the jaws firmly around the bit. Ensure the bit is centered and securely held.
- For screwdriver bits, the drill also features a spindle with a magnetic internal hex for working without the chuck. Simply insert the hex bit directly into the spindle.
Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off
- To start the drill, press the trigger switch. The drill speed is variable depending on how far the trigger is pressed.
- To stop the drill, release the trigger switch.
2. Forward/Reverse Rotation
- The forward/reverse selector switch is located above the trigger.
- Push the switch to the left for forward rotation (for drilling and tightening screws).
- Push the switch to the right for reverse rotation (for loosening screws).
- When the switch is in the center position, the trigger is locked, preventing accidental starting.
3. Torque Setting
- The torque setting ring is located behind the chuck. Rotate it to select the desired torque level.
- Lower numbers indicate lower torque for small screws or soft materials. Higher numbers provide more torque for larger screws or harder materials.
- The drill symbol setting is for drilling applications, providing maximum torque without clutch engagement.
4. Using the Belt Hook
- The practical belt hook can be fixed on either the right or left side of the tool without the need for additional tools.
- Attach the belt hook to your belt or pocket for convenient temporary storage of the tool while working.

1. Cleaning
- Regularly clean the ventilation openings of the power tool to prevent overheating.
- Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior of the tool. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Keep the chuck jaws clean and free of debris for optimal bit gripping.
2. Battery Care
- Store battery packs in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Do not store fully discharged battery packs for extended periods. Recharge them periodically if not in use.
