2. Setup Guide
Your YY KATTY Universal Remote Control offers two primary methods for setup: direct use (no programming required for many models) and code-based programming. Please ensure 2 AAA batteries are installed correctly before proceeding.
2.1. Battery Installation
Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote control. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align with the indicators inside the compartment. Close the battery cover securely.

2.2. Direct Use (No Programming Required)
For many modern TV models, the remote control may work directly out of the box without any programming. Simply point the remote at your TV and try pressing the Power button. If the TV responds, no further setup is needed.

2.3. Code-Based Programming (Manual Input)
If the direct use method does not work, you will need to program the remote using a specific code for your TV brand. Refer to the code list provided with your remote control's packaging. The general steps are:
- Turn on the TV you wish to control.
- Press and hold the 'SET' button (or a similar programming button, refer to your specific remote's manual if different) until the indicator light on the remote turns on.
- Enter the 3-digit or 4-digit code for your TV brand using the number buttons.
- The indicator light should turn off, indicating successful programming.
- Test the remote by pressing the Power button. If the TV turns off, the remote is successfully programmed. If not, try the next code for your TV brand or repeat the process.
Note: Some universal remotes may also offer an automatic code search function. Consult your remote's specific instructions for details on this method if available.
3. Operating the Remote Control
Once programmed, your universal remote control functions similarly to your original TV remote. Below is a guide to the common buttons and their functions.

4. Maintenance
Proper care and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your remote control.
4.1. Battery Replacement
Replace batteries when the remote's response becomes sluggish or stops working. Always use new AAA batteries and ensure correct polarity. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries.
4.2. Cleaning
To clean the remote, gently wipe its surface with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive moisture, which can damage the internal components.
4.3. Storage
Store the remote in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. If the remote will not be used for an extended period, it is advisable to remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your universal remote control, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Remote not responding:
- Check if the batteries are inserted correctly and have sufficient charge. Replace them if necessary.
- Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the TV's infrared sensor.
- Make sure you are within the effective range of the TV's IR receiver.
- Remote does not control the TV:
- Re-attempt the programming process (Section 2.3) using a different code for your TV brand if multiple codes are listed.
- Verify that the TV is powered on and not in standby mode.
- Confirm that the remote is pointed directly at the TV's IR sensor.
- Some buttons do not work:
- This can sometimes happen if the programmed code is not a perfect match. Try another code for your TV brand.
- Ensure the buttons are not stuck or dirty. Clean the remote as described in Section 4.2.
- Remote works for non-smart TVs:
- While advertised for smart TVs, this universal remote is also compatible with many older, non-smart TV models. The setup process remains the same.
