Operating Instructions

Ball Head Adjustment and Locking

The F38 Pro ball head allows for flexible camera positioning and secure locking.

  • Trigger Knob (Lock/Unlock): To adjust the ball head's angle, press the trigger knob to unlock the ball. Position your camera as desired, then release the trigger knob to lock it in place. The perceptible plate buckle will automatically pop up when locked.
  • Damping Knob: This knob controls the tightness or resistance of the ball head's movement. Rotate it to increase or decrease the damping, allowing for smoother or firmer adjustments.
  • Bubble Leveling Knob: Use this knob to fine-tune the leveling of your camera, ensuring a perfectly horizontal horizon.

Dual Panorama Adjustment Modes

The F38 Pro offers versatile panoramic capabilities:

  • 360° Ball Head Rotation: Allows for full spherical movement of your camera.
  • 360° Horizontal Panning: The base of the ball head can rotate 360 degrees independently, ideal for creating panoramic photos without adjusting the camera's tilt. The flip-lock for horizontal shooting switch controls this movement.
  • Vertical Shooting: The ball head design facilitates easy transition to vertical orientation for portrait shots.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your FALCAM F38 Pro ball head.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the ball head after each use. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Lubrication: The ball head mechanism is designed for smooth operation. Do not attempt to lubricate internal components unless specifically instructed by FALCAM support, as this may attract dust and impair performance.
  • Storage: Store the ball head in a clean, dry environment, away from extreme temperatures and humidity.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all screws and knobs to ensure they are tight. Do not overtighten.

Troubleshooting

  • Issue: Camera feels unstable or shifts after locking.

Solution: Ensure the quick-release plate is securely attached to your camera and fully seated in the ball head's clamp. Verify that the trigger knob is fully engaged and locked. Check the damping knob to ensure it is set to an appropriate resistance level for your equipment's weight. For heavy or long lenses, ensure the lens collar (if available) is used and properly balanced.

  • Issue: Difficulty in adjusting the ball head smoothly.

Solution: Check the damping knob. If it's too tight, loosen it slightly to allow for smoother movement. Ensure no debris is obstructing the ball's movement. If the issue persists, refer to the maintenance section.

  • Issue: Quick-release plate does not fit or is loose.

Solution: The F38 Pro is compatible with most Arca-Swiss plates. If using a non-FALCAM plate, ensure it adheres to standard Arca-Swiss dimensions. Some plates may have slight variations. Ensure the plate is inserted correctly and the locking mechanism is fully engaged. If the plate is too loose, check for any adjustment screws on the clamp itself (if applicable) or consider using the included FALCAM plate.
