Proper installation ensures optimal recording and functionality. The dash cam should be mounted on your windshield, typically behind the rearview mirror, to provide a clear view of the road ahead. The rear camera should be mounted on the rear window.

  • Clean the mounting surface on your windshield and rear window thoroughly.
  • Attach the adhesive bracket to the main dash cam and rear dash cam.
  • Securely mount the front dash cam to the windshield, ensuring it does not obstruct your view.
  • Mount the rear dash cam to the rear window.
  • Route the power cable and the rear camera cable neatly along the vehicle's interior trim to the power source (either the hardwire harness or cigarette lighter adapter).

3. Initial Setup & Smartphone Connectivity

To connect your smartphone to the OPSIS dash cam for initial setup or live viewing, especially if your vehicle has wireless Android Auto or CarPlay, follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect Phone from Vehicle: If your phone is connected to your vehicle's wireless Android Auto or CarPlay, navigate to your vehicle's radio settings and disconnect your phone from these services. This is crucial as your phone cannot connect to both the vehicle's Wi-Fi for Android Auto/CarPlay and the dash cam's direct Wi-Fi simultaneously.
  2. Activate Dash Cam Wi-Fi: On the OPSIS dash cam, press the Wi-Fi button. The Wi-Fi indicator light on the dash cam will illuminate.
  3. Connect to Dash Cam Wi-Fi: On your smartphone, go to your Wi-Fi settings. Look for the "Opsis_fc" network (it may take 30-60 seconds to appear). Select it and enter the default password: 123456789. Confirm the connection, even if prompted that there's no internet access.
  4. Open OPSIS App: Once connected to the dash cam's Wi-Fi, open the OPSIS app on your smartphone.
  5. Add Device: Within the app, select "Add Device" to link your dash cam.
  6. Access Features: You can now access live view, manage files, and adjust device settings through the app.
  7. Reconnect to Vehicle (Optional): After completing the initial setup, you can reconnect your phone to your vehicle's wireless Android Auto or CarPlay for normal use.

Operating the Dash Camera

1. Recording

The Stinger OPSIS dash cam automatically begins continuous recording when powered on. It records both front and rear views simultaneously. Files are saved to the included 32GB microSD card.

2. Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) Features

The dash cam is equipped with ADAS features to enhance driving safety. These include:

  • Forward Collision Warning: Alerts you to potential frontal collisions.
  • Forward Vehicle Departure Warning: Notifies you when the vehicle in front starts moving.
  • Lane Departure Warning: Warns you if you drift out of your lane.

Please note: An external GPS antenna is required for these ADAS features to function correctly.

3. Parking Mode

Parking mode provides surveillance when your vehicle is parked. It can be configured to use energy saver, motion detection, or time-lapse recording to capture events while the vehicle is stationary.

4. Mute Notifications

You can customize which notifications you receive from the dash cam via the OPSIS app settings. This allows you to mute alerts that you prefer not to hear during your drive, ensuring an uninterrupted experience.

5. File Management

Access and manage your recorded videos and images conveniently through the OPSIS App on your smartphone or the dedicated PC Viewer software. This allows for live viewing, downloading, and reviewing footage.

Maintenance

1. MicroSD Card Management

The dash cam comes with a 32GB microSD card pre-inserted. For optimal performance and to prevent data corruption, it is recommended to format the microSD card regularly (e.g., once a month) using the dash cam's format function or through the OPSIS app. Replace the microSD card if you experience frequent recording errors or data loss.

2. Cleaning

Keep the camera lenses clean to ensure clear video quality. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the lenses. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the lens coating.

Troubleshooting

  • Cannot Connect to Dash Cam Wi-Fi:

Ensure your smartphone is disconnected from your vehicle's wireless Android Auto or CarPlay. These services use Wi-Fi, which can interfere with the dash cam's direct Wi-Fi connection. Follow the steps in the "Initial Setup & Smartphone Connectivity" section.

  • Dash Cam Not Recording:

Check if the microSD card is properly inserted and formatted. Ensure the dash cam is receiving power. If issues persist, try formatting the card or replacing it.

  • Poor Video Quality:

Clean the camera lenses. Ensure the dash cam is securely mounted and not vibrating. Check the video resolution settings in the OPSIS app.

  • ADAS Features Not Working:

Verify that an external GPS antenna is connected and functioning. ADAS features rely on GPS data for accurate operation.
