5.1 Input Channels (Channels 1-4)
- MIC / LINE Input (XLR/1/4" Combo Jack): Connect microphones (XLR) or line-level instruments (1/4" TS/TRS). Channels 1 and 2 feature combo jacks. Channels 3/4 are stereo 1/4" LINE inputs.
- PAD Button (26dB): Attenuates the input signal by 26dB for very loud sources.
- HPF Button (80Hz): Activates a High-Pass Filter at 80Hz to reduce unwanted low-frequency rumble.
- GAIN Knob: Adjusts the input sensitivity for each channel. Set this to achieve a strong signal without clipping.
- 3-Band EQ (HIGH, MID, LOW):
- HIGH: Adjusts treble frequencies (10kHz).
- MID: Adjusts mid-range frequencies (2.5kHz).
- LOW: Adjusts bass frequencies (100Hz).
- FX Knob: Controls the amount of signal sent from the channel to the internal DSP effects processor.
- PEAK LED: Illuminates when the input signal is too high, indicating potential clipping. Adjust GAIN down if this LED lights up frequently.
- LEVEL Knob: Adjusts the overall output level of the individual channel to the main mix.
5.2 Master Section
- FX SEND Jack: Output for sending signal to an external effects processor.
- PHONES Jack: 1/4" stereo output for connecting headphones.
- STEREO OUT (L/R) Jacks: XLR outputs for connecting to a power amplifier, powered speakers, or recording device.
- USB TO PC / Bluetooth Interface: Allows connection to a computer for audio interface functionality or wireless Bluetooth streaming.
- Digital Display: Shows current DSP effect number or USB/Bluetooth status.
- PREV/NEXT/P/P/MODE Buttons: Control USB/Bluetooth playback and DSP effect selection.
- 16 DSP Effects Knob (PROGRAM): Selects one of the 16 built-in digital effects.
- PARAMETER Knob: Adjusts a specific parameter of the selected DSP effect (e.g., delay time, reverb decay).
- MAIN METERS (LED): Displays the main stereo output level. Aim for levels around 0dB to avoid clipping.
- PHANTOM (+48V) Button: Activates phantom power for condenser microphones connected to XLR inputs.
- MAIN Fader: Controls the overall output volume of the main stereo mix.
- PHONES Level Knob: Adjusts the volume of the headphone output.
- STEREO Fader: Controls the level of the USB/Bluetooth/MP3 input.
6. Setup Guide
Follow these steps to set up your ARMX-4 mixer:
- Placement: Place the mixer on a stable, flat surface, ensuring adequate ventilation around the unit.
- Power Connection: Ensure the mixer's power switch is OFF. Connect the provided power adapter to the DC IN jack on the rear panel of the mixer, then plug the adapter into a suitable AC power outlet.
- Output Connections: Connect the STEREO OUT (L/R) XLR jacks to your power amplifier, powered speakers, or recording interface.
- Input Connections:
- Microphones: Connect microphones to the MIC/LINE XLR inputs (Channels 1-2). If using condenser microphones, activate the +48V PHANTOM power.
- Line-Level Instruments: Connect instruments like keyboards or guitars (with a DI box) to the 1/4" LINE inputs.
- Stereo Sources: Connect stereo devices (e.g., CD player, external audio interface) to the 1/4" LINE inputs of Channel 3/4.
- Headphones: Connect your headphones to the PHONES jack for monitoring.
- Initial Settings: Before powering on, ensure all GAIN knobs are at their minimum, and all LEVEL faders/knobs (including MAIN and PHONES) are at their minimum.
- Power On: Turn on the mixer's power switch. Then, turn on your connected amplifier or powered speakers.
7. Operating Instructions
7.1 Basic Mixing
- Set Input Gain: While the source is playing (e.g., speaking into a microphone), slowly increase the GAIN knob for that channel until the PEAK LED flashes only occasionally. This ensures a strong signal without distortion.
- Adjust Channel Level: Slowly raise the channel's LEVEL knob to bring the sound into the main mix.
- Adjust Main Output: Gradually raise the MAIN fader to achieve the desired overall volume from your speakers. Monitor the MAIN METERS to ensure levels stay below clipping (0dB).
- Use EQ: Adjust the HIGH, MID, and LOW EQ knobs on each channel to shape the tone of the sound.
- Monitor with Headphones: Adjust the PHONES Level knob to set your headphone volume.
7.2 DSP Effects

Figure 7.1: Close-up of the DSP Effects section, showing the program display and control knobs.
The ARMX-4 features 16 built-in DSP effects:
- Select Effect: Turn the PROGRAM knob to cycle through the 16 effects. The selected effect number will be shown on the digital display.
- Adjust Effect Parameter: Use the PARAMETER knob to fine-tune the selected effect. For example, on a delay effect, this might adjust the delay time.
- Apply to Channels: Use the FX knob on each individual channel to send a portion of that channel's signal to the DSP effects processor.
- Adjust Overall FX Level: The overall level of the effects return is controlled by the dedicated FX return level (often integrated with the main stereo fader or a separate knob, depending on the specific model variant).
7.3 USB & Bluetooth Functionality

Figure 7.2: The USB and Bluetooth interface, showing connectivity options and controls.
The mixer supports USB/flash drive playback/recording and Bluetooth streaming. Note: USB and Bluetooth functions cannot be used simultaneously.
- USB Playback/Recording: Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port. Use the PREV/NEXT/P/P/MODE buttons to navigate and control playback. The mixer can also record directly to the USB drive. When connected to a PC via USB, the mixer acts as an audio interface for recording and playback.
- Bluetooth Streaming: Press the MODE button until the display shows "BLUE" or a Bluetooth icon. On your smartphone or Bluetooth-enabled device, search for "ARMX-4" (or similar name) and pair. Once connected, you can stream audio wirelessly to the mixer. Use the built-in controls (PREV/NEXT/P/P) to play/pause/skip tracks.
- Adjust USB/Bluetooth Level: Use the STEREO fader/knob to control the volume of the USB/Bluetooth input in the main mix.
8. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the mixer. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
- Storage: When not in use, store the mixer in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings are not blocked to prevent overheating.
- Cable Management: Avoid bending or crimping cables excessively, especially the power cord.
