2. Safety Information

Your safety is paramount. This water heater is equipped with multiple safety features. Always follow these guidelines to prevent injury or damage.

  • Overheat Protection: The unit will automatically shut off if the water temperature exceeds a safe limit.
  • Dry Combustion Protection: Prevents the burner from igniting if there is insufficient water flow.
  • Antifreeze Protection: Designed to prevent freezing in cold conditions. Proper drainage is still recommended when not in use in freezing temperatures.
  • Low-Flow Protection: Ensures the burner only ignites when the minimum working water pressure is reached (3.6 PSI).
  • Flame Fault Protection: Automatically cuts off the gas supply if the flame extinguishes unexpectedly.
  • High Water Pressure Protection: Safeguards the unit from damage due to excessive water pressure (up to 116 PSI).
  • Manifold Auto Protection: Additional safety mechanism for gas manifold operation.
  • 20-Minute Off Timer: The unit will automatically shut off after 20 minutes of continuous operation to prevent accidental prolonged use.

Important: Ensure adequate ventilation when operating the water heater, especially in enclosed spaces. Never block the exhaust vent. Use only propane gas with the provided CSA gas regulator.

4. Setup and Installation

This portable water heater is designed for ease of setup. Ensure all connections are secure before operation.

4.1 Unpacking and Inspection

  • Carefully remove the water heater and all accessories from the packaging.
  • Inspect the unit for any signs of damage during transit. Do not use if damaged.
  • Verify all included components are present: water heater unit, shower head, stainless steel water hose, plated shower head base, and CSA gas regulator.

4.2 Battery Installation

  • Locate the battery box, typically at the bottom of the unit.
  • Install two (2) 3V D-cell batteries (not included) according to the polarity markings inside the compartment. These batteries power the ignition system and digital display.

4.3 Water Connections

  • Connect the cold water supply hose to the Water Inlet (G 1/2") port. Ensure a tight, leak-free connection.
  • Connect the stainless steel water hose to the Water Outlet (G 1/2") port. Attach the shower head to the other end of this hose.
  • Ensure the water supply can provide a minimum pressure of 3.6 PSI for the unit to operate.

4.4 Gas Connection

  • Connect the provided CSA gas regulator to the Gas Inlet (G 1/2") port on the water heater.
  • Connect the other end of the regulator hose to your propane gas cylinder.
  • Tighten all gas connections securely. Perform a leak test using soapy water on all gas connections. Bubbles indicate a leak. Do not operate if a leak is detected.

4.5 Placement

  • Place the water heater on a stable, level surface.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit. Do not operate in a completely enclosed space without proper exhaust.
  • Keep flammable materials away from the water heater.

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to operate your tankless water heater:

  1. Open Gas Supply: Slowly open the valve on your propane gas cylinder.
  2. Open Water Supply: Turn on the cold water supply to the water heater.
  3. Adjust Water Flow: Turn the Water Output Regulator Knob to your desired flow rate. The unit requires a minimum flow to activate.
  4. Select Mode: Choose between Summer Mode (1/4 burner off for energy saving) or Winter Mode (all burners on for full heating) using the selector switch.
  5. Adjust Gas Input: Use the Gas Input Regulator Knob to fine-tune the flame intensity and desired water temperature. The digital display will show the current output temperature.
  6. Initiate Hot Water: Once water flow is detected and gas is supplied, the unit will automatically ignite and begin heating water.
  7. Shut Down: To turn off, first close the gas supply valve on the propane tank, then turn off the water supply.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your water heater.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe down the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Descaling: It is recommended to descale the inner heating rods annually to prevent mineral buildup, especially in areas with hard water. This typically requires professional servicing or careful disassembly.
  • Winterization (Antifreeze Protection): If storing the unit in freezing temperatures, ensure all water is drained from the system to prevent damage from freezing. Disconnect water hoses and allow water to flow out.
  • Gas Hose and Regulator Inspection: Regularly check the gas hose and regulator for cracks, damage, or leaks. Replace if any damage is found.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace D-cell batteries when the digital display dims or the ignition becomes inconsistent.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Hot Water / Unit Not Igniting:
    • Check if the propane tank is open and has sufficient gas.
    • Ensure water supply is on and water pressure meets the minimum 3.6 PSI requirement.
    • Verify batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge.
    • Check for any gas leaks at connections.
    • Ensure the water flow regulator is not set too low.
  • Water Not Hot Enough:
    • Adjust the Gas Input Regulator knob to increase flame intensity.
    • Ensure the unit is in Winter Mode if operating in colder conditions.
    • Reduce the water flow rate using the Water Output Regulator knob.
    • Check for mineral buildup if the unit has been used for an extended period without descaling.
  • Unit Shuts Off Unexpectedly:
    • This could be due to a safety feature activation (e.g., overheating, low water flow, flame fault, 20-minute timer).
    • Check water pressure and flow.
    • Ensure proper ventilation to prevent overheating.
  • Water Leaks:
    • Inspect all water connections for tightness. Use plumber's tape if necessary.
    • If leaks persist from the unit itself, discontinue use and contact support.

For issues not resolved by these steps, please contact customer support.
