5. Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to set up your spot welder:
- Connect Welding Pens: Connect the red welding pen to the "Pen output +" terminal and the black welding pen to the "Pen output -" terminal on the control board. Ensure connections are secure.
- Connect Power Source: Connect your 8V-24V DC power source (e.g., a battery pack) to the "Power input +" (red) and "Power input -" (black) terminals. The TX60 interface can also be used for power input. Ensure correct polarity.
- Power On: Once connected, the digital display will automatically show the input voltage.

6. Operating Instructions
Operating the VCHICS spot welder involves adjusting the power level and performing the weld.
- Power Adjustment: Use the "Gear position -" (SW1) and "Gear position +" (SW2) buttons to adjust the welding power level. The digital display will show the current gear setting (1-99). Start with a lower setting and increase gradually until a satisfactory weld is achieved.
- Welding Process:
- Place the nickel strip onto the battery terminal or workpiece.
- Position both welding pens firmly onto the nickel strip, ensuring good contact with the workpiece.
- The device will automatically detect contact and initiate a weld after a short delay (typically 0.5-1 second). A buzzing sound may indicate the welding process.
- Lift the welding pens after the weld is complete.
- Testing Welds: After welding, gently try to peel off the nickel strip. A strong weld will resist peeling or tear the nickel strip itself. Adjust the power setting as needed.
- Turning Off: To turn off the device, disconnect the power source.
Note: The optimal welding power setting depends on the thickness of the nickel strip and the type of battery/material being welded. Experiment with scrap materials first.
7. Maintenance
- Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Inspect welding pens and cables regularly for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
- Store the spot welder in a dry, cool place when not in use.
- Ensure proper ventilation during operation to prevent overheating.
8. Troubleshooting
- No Power/Display Off:
- Check power source connection and ensure it is within the 8V-24V range.
- Verify power cable polarity.
- Weak Welds/No Weld:
- Increase the welding power setting (gear level).
- Ensure welding pens are making firm and clean contact with both the nickel strip and the workpiece.
- Check for oxidation on the nickel strip or workpiece; clean if necessary.
- Ensure your power source can deliver sufficient current for welding.
- Overheating:
- Allow the device to cool down between prolonged welding sessions.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the control board.
