Setup

Initial Charging

Your SEIKO Solar Dive Watch is powered by light. For optimal performance, ensure the watch is exposed to light regularly. Upon first use or after a period of storage, place the watch in direct sunlight for approximately 9 hours for a full charge. Alternatively, exposure to strong artificial light will also charge the watch, though it may take longer.

Setting the Time and Date

  1. Unscrew the crown (located at the 3 o'clock position) by turning it counter-clockwise until it springs out.
  2. Pull the crown out to the first click for date adjustment, or to the second click for time adjustment.
  3. For date adjustment: Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise until the correct date is displayed. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 1 AM to prevent damage to the movement.
  4. For time adjustment: Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hands. To ensure accuracy, set the minute hand a few minutes past the desired time and then turn it back.
  5. Once set, push the crown back in and screw it down clockwise firmly to ensure water resistance.

Operating Instructions

Using the Uni-directional Rotating Bezel

The uni-directional rotating bezel is a crucial feature for divers to measure elapsed time underwater. To use it:

  1. Before diving, align the triangle marker on the bezel with the minute hand.
  2. As time passes, the minute hand will move, indicating the elapsed time against the bezel's scale.
  3. The bezel rotates only counter-clockwise to prevent accidental increases in measured time, which could lead to critical miscalculations during a dive.

Water Resistance

The SNE585 is ISO 6425 certified for dive watches, rated for 200 meters (660 feet) of water resistance. This means it is suitable for scuba diving. Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before exposing the watch to water to maintain its water resistance integrity.

Maintenance

Cleaning

After exposure to saltwater, rinse your watch thoroughly with fresh water and wipe it dry with a soft cloth. This prevents salt buildup and corrosion. For general cleaning, use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the case and bracelet. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
