2. Important Safety Information

  • Read all instructions before using the appliance.

4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials and the coffee maker from the box. Retain the packaging for future storage or transport. Ensure all components listed in Section 3 are present and undamaged.

4.2 Before First Use

  1. Wash the glass carafe, permanent filter, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  2. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth.
  3. For initial cleaning, brew two full carafes of water without coffee grounds. Fill the water reservoir to the MAX line, place the empty filter basket and carafe in position, and run a normal brew cycle. Discard the water after each cycle.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Brewing Coffee

  1. Open the lid of the water reservoir.
  2. Fill the glass carafe with the desired amount of fresh, cold water. Refer to the water level markings on the carafe.
  3. Pour the water from the carafe into the water reservoir. Do not exceed the MAX fill line.
  4. Place the permanent filter or a paper filter (cone-shaped, 14-cup size) into the filter basket.
  5. Add the desired amount of ground coffee to the filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee grounds per cup, but adjust to your taste.
  6. Close the lid securely.
  7. Ensure the glass carafe is correctly placed on the warming plate.
  8. Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
  9. Press the ON/OFF button to start the brewing process. The indicator light will illuminate.
  10. The coffee maker will automatically shut off after 120 minutes of inactivity.

5.2 Setting the Clock

  1. Plug in the coffee maker. The display will show "12:00 AM" and flash.
  2. Press the HOUR button to set the hour. Press and hold for rapid advance.
  3. Press the MIN button to set the minutes. Press and hold for rapid advance.
  4. Ensure the correct AM/PM indicator is selected. The clock will stop flashing after a few seconds, indicating the time is set.

5.3 Delay Brew Function

The delay brew function allows you to program the coffee maker to start brewing at a specific time.

  1. Follow steps 1-7 from "5.1 Brewing Coffee".
  2. Press the PROG button. The display will show "PROG" and flash.
  3. Use the HOUR and MIN buttons to set the desired delay brew time.
  4. Press the PROG button again to confirm the setting. The "PROG" indicator will remain lit.
  5. The coffee maker will automatically start brewing at the programmed time.

5.4 Brew Strength Select

You can adjust the coffee strength to your preference.

  • Before brewing, press the BOLD BREW button. The indicator light for "BOLD" will illuminate.
  • This setting will slow down the brewing process to extract more flavor, resulting in a bolder cup of coffee.
  • Press the button again to deactivate the bold brew setting.

5.5 1-4 Cups Function

For smaller batches of coffee (1-4 cups), use this function to optimize brewing for better flavor extraction.

  • Before brewing, press the 1-4 CUPS button. The indicator light for "1-4 CUPS" will illuminate.
  • This function adjusts the brewing cycle to ensure full flavor development for smaller quantities.
  • Press the button again to deactivate the 1-4 cups setting.

5.6 Anti-Drip Function

The 30-second anti-drip feature allows you to temporarily remove the carafe during the brewing cycle to pour a cup of coffee without making a mess. The brewing will pause and resume once the carafe is returned to the warming plate within 30 seconds. If the carafe is not returned within 30 seconds, the filter basket may overflow.

5.7 Keep Warm Function

After brewing is complete, the warming plate will automatically keep the coffee warm for 120 minutes. The coffee maker will then automatically shut off for safety and energy saving.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  1. Always unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Remove the permanent filter and filter basket. Discard coffee grounds.
  3. Wash the glass carafe, permanent filter, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are also top-rack dishwasher safe.
  4. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker, warming plate, and control panel with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  5. Never immerse the main unit, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.

6.2 Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)

Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your coffee maker every 2-4 weeks, or more frequently if you have hard water.

  1. Fill the carafe with one part white vinegar and two parts cold water.
  2. Pour the mixture into the water reservoir.
  3. Place the empty filter basket (without coffee or filter) and carafe in position.
  4. Press the CLEAN button. The indicator light will illuminate.
  5. The coffee maker will run a special cleaning cycle. Once complete, the indicator light will turn off.
  6. Discard the vinegar solution from the carafe.
  7. Run two to three full cycles with fresh, cold water only to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste.
