Setup and First Use

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and labels from the coffee maker. Retain packaging for future transport if needed.
  2. Placement: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the counter. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  3. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, clean all removable parts (carafe, filter basket) with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
  4. First Brew Cycle (Cleaning): Fill the water reservoir to the MAX line with fresh water. Do not add coffee grounds. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Run a full brew cycle to flush out any manufacturing residues. Discard the water and repeat if desired.

Operating Instructions

Setting the Clock

  1. Plug in the coffee maker. The display will flash.
  2. Press the 'TIME' button. The hour digits will flash.
  3. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to set the current hour (AM/PM will adjust automatically).

  5. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to set the current minutes.
  6. Press 'TIME' one more time to confirm the setting. The clock is now set.

Brewing Hot Coffee

  1. Fill Water Reservoir: Open the top lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the desired level indicated on the side. Do not exceed the MAX line.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable filter basket into its holder. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee per cup. Close the top lid securely.
  3. Place Carafe: Ensure the empty glass carafe is correctly positioned on the warming plate.
  4. Select Brew Strength (Optional): Press the 'BOLD' button on the control panel to select a stronger brew. The indicator light will illuminate. Press again to deselect.
  5. Start Brewing: Press the power button (U) to begin the brewing cycle. The indicator light will illuminate.
  6. Keep Warm: After brewing, the coffee maker will automatically enter a keep-warm cycle for 120 minutes (2 hours), indicated by the 'KEEP WARM' light. After 120 minutes, the appliance will automatically shut off.

Brewing Iced Coffee

For optimal iced coffee, use a stronger brew setting and ensure the carafe is filled with ice before brewing.

  1. Fill Water Reservoir: Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the 'MAX ICE CUBE' line.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable filter basket into its holder. Add the desired amount of ground coffee. For iced coffee, it is recommended to use slightly more coffee grounds than for hot coffee to compensate for dilution by ice. Close the top lid securely.
  3. Prepare Carafe with Ice: Fill the glass carafe with ice cubes up to the 'MAX ICE CUBE' line on the carafe. Place the carafe on the warming plate.
  4. Select Iced Brew: Press the 'ICE' button on the control panel. The indicator light will illuminate. This setting optimizes the brewing process for iced coffee.
  5. Start Brewing: Press the power button (U) to begin the brewing cycle. The indicator light will illuminate.
  6. Serve: Once brewing is complete, stir the iced coffee in the carafe and serve immediately. The keep-warm function is not applicable for iced coffee.

Delay Brew Function

The delay brew function allows you to program the coffee maker to start brewing at a specific time.

  1. Prepare the coffee maker for brewing (water, coffee grounds, carafe in place) as described in the Hot or Iced Coffee Brewing sections.
  2. Press the 'AUTO' button. The 'AUTO' indicator light will flash, and the display will show the last set auto-brew time or '12:00 AM'.
  3. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to set your desired brew start time.
  4. Press 'AUTO' again to confirm the delay brew time. The 'AUTO' indicator light will remain illuminated, and the display will revert to the current time.
  5. The coffee maker will automatically start brewing at the programmed time.

Anti-Drip Function

The 30-second anti-drip function temporarily stops the flow of coffee if the carafe is removed during brewing, allowing you to pour a cup before the cycle is complete. Return the carafe to the warming plate within 30 seconds to prevent overflow.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

  1. Daily Cleaning: After each use, unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool. Remove the filter basket and carafe. Wash these parts in warm, soapy water, then rinse thoroughly and dry. The carafe and filter basket are top-rack dishwasher safe.
  2. Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. Never immerse the coffee maker in water or other liquids.
  3. Descaling: Mineral deposits from water can build up over time and affect performance. Descale your coffee maker every 2-4 weeks, depending on water hardness.
    • Mix 1 part white vinegar with 2 parts water.
    • Pour the solution into the water reservoir up to the MAX line.
    • Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
    • Run a brew cycle until half of the solution has brewed through, then turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for 15-20 minutes.
    • Turn the coffee maker back on and let the remaining solution brew through.
    • Discard the solution and run 2-3 cycles with fresh, clean water to rinse thoroughly.
