4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Tuning Your Guitar

Accurate tuning is crucial for proper sound. Use the included digital clip-on tuner:

  1. Attach Tuner: Clip the digital tuner onto the headstock of your guitar.
  2. Power On Tuner: Turn on the tuner.
  3. Tune Strings: Pluck each string individually. The tuner display will show the note being played. Adjust the corresponding tuning peg until the tuner indicates the correct pitch (E-A-D-G-B-e, from thickest to thinnest string).
  4. Standard Tuning:
    • 6th String (thickest): E (Low E)
    • 5th String: A
    • 4th String: D
    • 3rd String: G
    • 2nd String: B
    • 1st String (thinnest): e (High E)

4.2 Guitar Controls (SSS Pickups)

Your STRICH SST-S10 features three single-coil pickups and a 5-way selector switch, along with volume and tone controls for versatile sound shaping.

  • 5-Way Selector Switch: This switch allows you to select different pickup combinations:
    • Position 1 (Bridge): Activates the bridge pickup for a bright, sharp tone.
    • Position 2 (Bridge + Middle): Combines bridge and middle pickups for a slightly warmer, quacky tone.
    • Position 3 (Middle): Activates the middle pickup for a balanced, clear tone.
    • Position 4 (Middle + Neck): Combines middle and neck pickups for a warm, full tone.
    • Position 5 (Neck): Activates the neck pickup for a warm, mellow tone, ideal for blues and jazz.
  • Volume Knob: Controls the overall output volume of the guitar. Turn clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease.
  • Tone Knobs:
    • Tone 1: Typically controls the tone of the neck pickup.
    • Tone 2: Typically controls the tone of the middle pickup (and sometimes the bridge pickup in certain configurations).
Turning a tone knob clockwise increases treble (brighter sound), and counter-clockwise decreases treble (warmer, darker sound).

4.3 Amplifier Controls

The mini amplifier provides controls to further shape your sound:

  • Volume: Controls the overall output volume of the amplifier.
  • Gain: Adjusts the amount of distortion or overdrive. Higher gain settings produce a more distorted sound.
  • Tone: Adjusts the tonal characteristics of the amplifier, similar to the guitar's tone knobs.
  • Clean/Drive Switch: Toggles between a clean sound and a distorted (drive) sound.
  • Bluetooth/Aux Volume: Controls the volume of audio played via Bluetooth or the Aux input.

5. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Use the provided seamless cleaning cloth to wipe down the guitar body, neck, and strings after each use. This removes sweat and oils that can corrode strings and finish. For deeper cleaning, use guitar-specific cleaning products.
  • String Replacement: Strings should be replaced regularly, especially if they sound dull, feel rough, or show signs of corrosion. Refer to online tutorials or a professional for proper string changing techniques. Use the included spare nickel strings.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the guitar in its gig bag to protect it from dust, humidity changes, and physical damage. Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
  • Truss Rod Adjustment: The guitar neck contains a truss rod to counteract string tension. If you notice excessive bowing or back-bowing of the neck, a truss rod adjustment may be necessary. This is an advanced procedure; if unsure, consult a qualified guitar technician. Use the included hex key for this purpose.
  • Amplifier Care: Keep the amplifier away from moisture and extreme temperatures. Ensure it is turned off when not in use.
